Of course he has a point. All this 'pot calling the kettle black' sort of thing is just white noise. You can't ignore what has been said just because you don't like the messenger. Maybe he should just pass a note to someone else and they say it. That way someone might actually sit up and do something about it. Society is losing cohesion ever so slightly all the time...

It's not about him Mickey it is just about what he said. Ignore who said it, look at what was said and answer the post.
Its impossible to ignore Putin, when he engaging in war crimes, with such gay abandon.
Russia recently rated third in the world for teenage suicides

I do hope he's doing something to protect Russia's children.
I think who said it is very relevant.

Does any country claim it can boast that none of it's children are ever harmed ? If not does every country therefore have diluted national values ? Do they all have no future ?

The only thing any reasonable person can agree is that the daft rules of the EU and the inappropriately compassionate attitude of some who feel the emotion but fail to see the consequences led to the problems that now occur.

The stated court case is still ongoing. It sounds as if the Austrian laws are badly drafted if, not understanding a boy was saying, "No", is any form of defence, but again, who can claim their country has all it's laws in perfect state ?

No, the fact that Putin said it, is very relevant. It is to simply to distract folk for all the things he and his country are getting wrong. That is the only thing worth taking from the criticism.
It is not relevant at all in the context of this post. AOG made that quite clear.
He tried to, but he was wrong.
OG....agree 100% with your last paragraph above....its pure diversionary tactics. He has fooled you or me.....pity I can't say that about his usual friends, supporters and apologists here on AB
//a continent that 'can't protect its children' has no future.//

Oh, the continent has a future - but not a future it's going to like much.

Yes, he does have a point.

Not addressing the issue of Putin on this issue would be like asking us to comment on how wonderful it was that Mussolini was able to make the trains run on time, without mentioning how he fully embraced Hitler.
OG...for "has" above, please read "has not" !
//Not addressing the issue of Putin on this issue would be like asking us to comment on how wonderful it was that Mussolini was able to make the trains run on time, without mentioning how he fully embraced Hitler. //

on a point of pedantry, Mussolini predated Hitler in power by a full ten years, and Hitler idolized him. Mussolini didn't embrace hitler, it was the other way round.
Mush....yes, you were quite right....it is pedentry.
I can't see what the war in Syria, or indeed Mussolini or Hitler have to do with this question. Not many straight answers here.

''inappropriately compassionate attitude of some who feel the emotion''

I doubt many actually 'feel the emotion' or else they would be a permanent emotional wreck, after all there is always suffering on the planet somewhere. I think for many it is about their concerned for their reputation as a wonderful human being. (despite slipping up on the odd occasion)

lol @ the super smart political animal ... who has once again refused to answer the question.
Mikey at 16.40 is dead right.
And the hypocrisy aside I don't actually agree with VVP anyway.
The handling of the refugee crisis has been far from perfect of course, but then as even Angela Merkel I am sure would admit that much ...

Mush pointed out his mistake ... how can he be 'dead right'?
What I meant was:
you can't really avoid the issue of Putin and his record both at home and abroad on this issue, despite aog's request.
The example about Hitler and Mussolini is in a sense irrelevant.
Anyway I don't think Mussolini DID make the trains run on time, did he, any more than Putin has been a beacon for the young disadvantaged on Russia?

Sorry aog, not only one nasty dictator getting a bashing but Mussolini too. You can't trusty any of us I am afraid :-)
