I await mikey's reaction, strangely because he seems to have missed this black on white killing.

What has the third runway to do with a dead Police Officer?
I find it awful that someone is using someone's death (no matter what colour) in a game of one-upmanship!
Totally agree, distasteful in the extreme.

It's happening more and more frequently.

San Antonio... is that in Hertfordshire or something?

Anyway, it's in today's Evening Standard. With a headline.
AOG.....I have raised an issue in the past, when a person is killed unnecessarily, and/or unlawfully in America by a Police Officer, which has happened on a few occasions in the last year. And I will continue to do so in the future.

This appears to be a murder, of which several thousands occur every year in America and I wish the San Antonio Police Dept. every success in finding the culprit.
I'm just thankful that the vast majority of threads about police killings and police being killed are not about our police.

God bless America.
Talbot....we are reaping the rewards of a sensible gun ownership policy, of which I am sure everybody can agree on.
“What has the third runway to do with a dead Police Officer?”

The movement “Black Lives Matter” was very vociferous in the summer when there was a spate of black people killed by white police officers in the USA. When the third runway decision was about to be announced (or just afterwards, I can’t remember) a group representing that movement protested against the possibility of a third runway at Heathrow. Their logic was that black people are disproportionately affected by the effects that air travel has on the environment whilst being disproportionately less likely to take advantage of it. Hope that helps, mamy.

I’m simply interested to see if a similar movement is set up following this tragic killing and whether its members will protest in the same way at the runway decision. I make no comment on the relative tragedy of any of the killings. All killings are tragic. But some have a greater after effect than others.

You asked:

"I Wonder Why This One Isn't Headline News?"

The story has been heaving featured in the following media outlets:

Buzzfeed
Independent
Daily Express
Daily Mail
Daily Star
Sky News
ABC News
Washington Post
The Guardian
The Observer
BBC News
Sky News
ITV News

The only sites I could not find an in depth report on were:

The Mirror and The Telegraph (they don't have a search bar) and Huffington Post - which isn't covering the story at all, as of now.

I would strongly counsel you against the inference you're making on mikey4444 position here, because it's likely to come back to haunt you.

Also, the words 'strangely' and 'because' are in the wrong order.
dive buddy's gave a statistic of white cops being 17 times more likely to be killed by a black civilian, than the other way around.

The figure I think he's referring to is 18.5%, and has been put forward by Heather MacDonald in her book, 'The War on Cops'.

I've not been able to find any verification on that number, but another statistic, which has been verified shows that unarmed black men are more likely to die by the gun of a cop than an unarmed white man.

In August 2015, the ratio was seven-to-one of unarmed black men dying from police gunshots compared to unarmed white men.

More reading here (be warned...it's quite long):

One other point AOG - if you really do believe that this story is being ignored by the mainstream press, could it be because this might be a homophobic hate crime, rather than a race crime?
// Well, a white police officer is seventeen times more likely to be killed by a black person than a black person is likely to be killed by a white police officer. Only in America, eh.//

more detail ?
a fifth of black males end up being shot ( dead I think ) usually by erm each other - so they have a 20% of being killed - rather than dying

I dont think the police have that sort of death rate

/// Perhaps it should have been an 'FAO Mikey'? ///

I get dragged into many threads without the need for a FAO prefix."

Have you ever heard of a little but powerful thing called "Taking the moral high ground"?
divebuddy

I always think those stats, which I don't dispute - should be taken holistically, otherwise we are in danger of missing 'the big picture'.
