What seems strange about this stabbing is the fact that some newspapers are reporting that teenagers are involved, yet others just state that a man has been held on suspicion of attempting murder.
There is also the usual "Scotland Yard said the incident was not being treated as terrorism related at this stage and a knife was recovered".

/// The text is somewhat misleading, it infers that each of the people involved stabbed the officer, whereas it appears that only of them did, and has been arrested. ///
Not misleading in the way you suggest Andy, since it does not state the age of the male arrested, he could have been one of the three boys.
But what is indeed misleading is the fact that the Guardian reports that "three boys and a girl in their late teens stabbed a plainclothes police officer three times".
/// Three boys and a girl in their late teens stabbed a plainclothes police officer three times as he was taking part in a planned operation in east London on Tuesday night, Scotland Yard has said. ///
Surely if four persons had stabbed a policeman, he would have been stabbed four times instead of three times.
Or am I missing something?

No it is you who seems to be lacking in logic, it defiantly states:
/// Three boys and a girl in their late teens stabbed a plainclothes police officer three
times ///
For your logic to be correct, it would state:
"From the group of three boys and a girl in their late teens three of them each stabbed the plainclothes police officer once each"
Or:
"From the group of three boys and a girl in their late teens one stabbed the plainclothes police officer twice and another once".
Or:
"From the group of three boys and a girl in their late teens, one of them stabbed the plainclothes police officer three times".
Could be three people stabbed him once each. Could be one person stabbed him twice and one once, could be 1 person stabbed him 3 times.

AOG - this analysis is somewhat futile, I am sure you will agree.
Newspapers, and other news sources, start reporting situations before any clear facts are known, and sometimes what was originally perceived as being the facts are subsequently not borne out when the whole story is revealed.
This means that newspapers report from different sources, who do not all have the same facts - and that is why confusion can often occur, as appears to be the case here.

another police stabbing ....
you keep the stats AOG
you will have to tell me when the last one was,
as I cant remember
nothing inconsistent in the papers being er inconsistent
reporting is restricted as soon as the suspect is .. charged
here he has been arrested on suspicion of murder
so they can say anything really
not terrorism ( any crime committed with a political intent I think ) which means they cant detain incognito for ever ( 56 d I think )

// Who'd be a policeman? Not a job for the faint-hearted. //
what a pity nigh what a great pity you werent around to dispense career advice to Dukinfield and Bettison ...[ of the SYP for those of short memory) - one of whom if he had ignored your measured advice would have gone onto be a chief constable [bloody great pension I can tell you]
stabbing is kinda all or none ( binary in modern speak ) you cant half stab someone or almost stab them ( as in miss with the knife). however in law if two people agree to stab and one does it then they are both liable for the primary offence ( stabbing - cabt remember what that comes under in the 1861 act )

You know when you singled out mikey4444 for not posting on the police officer who was stabbed by a black man earlier this week?
I this the same as you focussing on this story and bypassing the Anne Macguire case (where Will Cornick has appealed against his 20 year conviction) the same kind of thing?
I'm just wondering whether you get 'news blindness' if the perpetrator is 'a regular user of sun block in the summer'.
Not accusing you - just wondering whether whether the colour of the hand on the knife handle has a bearing on your propensity to post.
