> Leaving aside the politics of the Lady or this nutcase this was a very sad day for free speech in the UK. I believe YMB was saying that Mair killed Cox for expressing her beliefs, which made it a sad day for free speech especially as her beliefs weren't particularly extreme - formerly of Oxfam, campaigner on Syria, Remain, etc. Hardly a communist.

It has been pointed out that one poster sees similarities between the murder of Jo Cox and Lee Rigby, the similarities are the fact that both unfortunate victims were so savagely killed.
Having said that the way the two killers were described leads one to reason why?
Jo Cox's murderer was described by the media as a Far-Right, Neo-Nazi, White Supremacist, Terrorist.
Whereas in Lee Rigsby's murderers case they seemed reluctant to even call him an Islamic Terrorist, much more willing just to label him "mentally disarranged".
Having said that the way the two killers were described leads one to reason why?

There has been a great deal of sentiment shown towards this disgraceful murder of a young mother and loving wife.
But she also happened to be a politician and with that job goes certain risks just as in other occupations such as armed forces, police officers, and fire-fighters etc.
It is a sad fact but I feel sure that there are certain ABers on here who would not express the same sympathy if President-Elect Trump or Nigel Farage were to meet the same fate.

Terrorists maybe, but I said " Islamic terrorists" and I can't see any mention of that in your link.
Also in the ever increasing march of Political Correctness, things have moved on since the Lee Rigby's murder, and they are now very reluctant to wheel out the "Terrorist attack" accusations.
But how Jo Cox's murder can be classed as a terrorist attack certainly baffles me.

AOG....there is no evidence that Jo was killed by a terrorist.
Mair was an unhinged lone wolf, who refused to give any evidence before or during his trial.
He was subsequently found out to have ultra-right sympathies and had joined the usual rag-bag of far-right organisations in the past.
I note that prosecutors said Mair was motivated by hate and his crimes were "nothing less than acts of terrorism". But Mair wasn't charged and convicted under anti-terrorist legislation, primarily because there was no indication that he acted under orders from any organisation.
Its worth reading the Judges comments at the end of the trial. He also refused Mair's request to make a post-verdict statement, a wise move on the Judges part as far as I am concerned. We shouldn't let someone "grandstand" when they have refused to defend themselves during the trial, or, indeed, take part in the trial in any way
