/// However, figures from the 2011 Census put the actual proportion of Muslims in England and Wales at under five per cent, while Christians account for nearly 60 per cent. ///
Yer!! like they all filled in their census forms.

There is no evidence that Muslim households fail to complete their Census returns (either at all or correctly). In 2001 there were just 43 successful prosecutions for failing to comply. In 2011 it was said that some 400 prosecutions were “being attempted” . I cannot find out how many were successful. In any case, not a huge number among 25 million or so...

“New judge, why do I need to get out more?”
You don’t need to get out more, Ratter. (In fact, if you’re quite happy where you are I recommend, at least as far as this topic goes, that you don’t). It’s a turn of phrase used to indicate that not all is as you perceive it to be from where you sit. Of course the same can be said of the Muslims who believe that 75% of the UK are followers of Islam.
“Whether the percentage of Muslims is higher than stated is open to argument' no it's not, it's down to cold hard facts.
UK population 63 million.
5% of 63m = 3150000 “
But the facts (though not the calculation) that you state are neither cold, nor hard. The census figures are not “cold hard facts”. For reasons I have stated, it is highly unlikely that the UK population of 63 million is accurate. Secondly, whether the UK’s Muslim population is 5% or more or less is also not known (again, for the reasons I have stated). If Muslims who default on census completion comprise more than 5% of all those who default then the true percentage of the UK’s population that is Muslim will be greater than 5%. If the defaulters are less than 5% then the Muslim population will be smaller than 5%. But as I said, neither the religious makeup nor the total number of defaulters is known. So it follows that the number of Muslims in the UK is unknown. But I don’t think anyone would argue that the true total population is greater than the Census suggests so it is a fair bet that the true number of Muslims (and perhaps the percentage, but who knows) is greater than the census suggests.

This is a typical DM dog whistle article.
"Some" Muslims think that 60% of the population is Muslim.
What does "some" mean ?
What proportion of the people that were asked was included in the "some"
AOG....from the last line of your post, you seem to doubt that the figures that the Census holds are in accurate. In 2011, 4.8% of the population declared themselves to be Muslim.
There is a debate to be had on Dame Louise Casey's report, but this isn't it, so I am puzzled, but not surprised why you chose to take this angle ?

New Judge "It’s a turn of phrase used to indicate that not all is as you perceive it to be from where you sit."
You have no idea how I perceive it the situation, I have just stated a fact concerning the area I live in. I am fully aware of areas that are largely populated by Muslims, but no way on this earth is the UK populated by 75% Muslims, that's ridiculous! So I suggest you wind your neck in and stop being so condescending!!
