Only humiliation then not racist? but it would have been seen as racist if she had said "whites get a discount".

No mention of any whites complaining about the selective discount.

Like it or not, I simply can't get rattled about anything the wonderfully batty and eccentric Miriam says or does.

Scenes like this will be played out across many dinner tables at Christmas as an outspoken older relative drops a totally outrageous comment into conversation.
read the comments....people who were there didn’t see a problem

You could well be right Mam, so lets hope no one says "give Delroy two helpings of pud". :0)
Indeed not, portion control even at Christmas. :-)
For goodness sake she is 75 ish years old and has what my nan used to say was mouth engaging before brain syndrome.

Although it was more than likely said in good humour on her part her age has a lot to do with it. Nowadays we are forced to repress our thoughts and feelings to comply with all sorts of equality issues and not offending anyone for any reason. It is not until they die off and the younger ones who have grown up with the current political thinking will this not happen. But then again there will always be something that will need to be repressed from our thoughts so the cycle will never end.
I can only agree with previous posters.

Ms. Margoleys is known to be somewhat outré in her proncounements, and I am sure she meant no offence, but was in her mind, being witty.

If the gentleman in question felt offended or 'humiliated', it is for himself and the actress to discuss in private, it is not the remit of other customers, or a national paper to take offence on his behalf.

Yet again the Mail huffs and puffs on behalf of someone else - another non-story on a slow day.
