I don't think anyone said it was harmless, but since its effects are comparable to alcohol it's hardly that radical to suggest that the two should be treated in the same way, legally. Banning one but not the other is arbitrary, with no real basis in anything.

It goes without saying that I condemn the criminal in this case.

A little bit of hash does have one big advantage. It tends to make the user feel less inclined to do stuff like, oh let's say, operate a keyboard thereby giving readers a short break from the stream of ill-informed, knee-jerk, pub bore garbage that might otherwise appear.

I don't know what FBWD means.

But aside from that, as jim360 has pointed out, cannabis is on a par with alcohol insofar as its effects can be catastrophic on certain individuals, but not on others, so it is wrong to simply apportion blame to it, as TTT appears to do in his OP.

I don't think anyone is 'condemning the messenger', or that doing so is a 'standard approach' for any political leaning poster of either wing.

I think TTT is letting the emotional impact of the dreadful story impact on his emotional involvement on the thread.
