oh no !!! another one ..69 seems to be a fatal number !!
Sad news - RIP Greg.
He'll be getting a lot of grief from Mr Prokofiev for ripping off his tune.
Very sad news.

RIP Greg.
And even more grief from Mussorgsky for murdering Pictures at an Exhibition.

Another great talent gone. R I P Greg.
Another sad loss this year.
I prefer this, to that horrible Father Xmas song ! ELP was one of those rock groups, that a good grounding in classical music, and it shows in their future work. I doubt whether ELP or similar groups would be able to exist today, mindless pop pap being the order of the day. RIP Greg and only 69 !

I forgot to add.....another great music hero of my formative years gone !
How sad.
Re. Fanfare For The Common Man that ELP played so wonderfully - the release version is in fact their very first run-through of the piece in the studio.

They had the tapes running and went for a take, and despite numerous retries, were never able to capture the sheer power of that first take, so that was the one they released.
RIP Greg.

I was only just thinking that his Christmas song is my favourite. 69 is not old

Very sad news, pips.,....I was only talking on a thread last week, that the first Christmas tune I will play this year, on the morning of Dec 1st, would be his brilliant 'I Believe In Father Christmas', which for me is the best Christmas tune ever.

I did, and have played it most days on my morning shows, due to requests for it.....

Class musician...... ELP...an inspiration to me when younger.......

Rest In Peace, Greg .......sleep well. x
Sad news, RIP Greg.
