“…but its the unwillingness of the Scots to how any enthusiasm for voting Tory that really annoys people !”
It’s not that, Mikey. It is the unwillingness of many Scots to accept that they are part of the United Kingdom, that they should be subject to UK law and also subject to UK spending limits and patterns. The Blair government gave them their delusions of grandeur with the ridiculous “devolution” arrangements it put in place. The results of that folly are now plain. The Scots want to thwart Brexit because they believe their needs (population 8%) trump those of the rest of the UK (92%); they believe their entitlement to additional per capita funding is justified; they believe that they should use this funding (provided principally by the English) to provide “free” services for which the English must pay; they believe the (dwindling) North Sea oil reserves are theirs alone, whilst demanding, in the event of separation, a share of resources from the rest of the UK. I could go on but “cake and eat it” does not adequately describe their attitude.
People in the rest of the UK do not particularly care that they do not vote Tory. There are plenty of areas in the UK which do not and which are scarcely likely ever to do so. But those areas are not subject to the extraordinarily special treatment which the Scots receive and want to see enhanced.

I fear New Judge you misunderestimate a large propertion of Scots who may a more rational view of life than you paint.
I find it amazing just how many people seem to understand the Scottish psyche who've never lived in Scotland or spent any of their time with a broad spectrum of Scots to actually understand them. Have to say despite many years living in England, I'd never be so arrogant as to say I understood them fully.

NJ...you might think that devolution is ridiculous but here in Wales and in Scotland we don't. Blair have us the choice, because he defeated the Tories hands down in 1997, so please don't moan about how democracy works !
From that moment n 1997, the Tories have never made up for lost ground, here on my side of the Severn Bridge and north of the Border. Might I remind you that the SNP defeated the Tories, as well as Labour and the Libdems.

"Blair have us the choice,..."
Quite so, Mikey. But he did not give us (the English) the choice. He who pays the piper most definitely does not call the tune.
Imagine this question of the Welsh and the Scots:
Blair: "Do you want extra funding principally from England and control of it so that you may provide "free" services which are not available to the English?"
Welsh and the Scots: "Well, we'll have to think about that one".
The SNP would defeat the Tories in Scotland wouldn't they. They promised their constituents gifts and money (principally financed by the English).

B. liar gave the referendum on devolution as a thank you to the Labour party in Scotland for all the support, what he failed to see was that this was a mechanism for the rise in nationalism in Scotland. No matter what Donald the Dreich did or said, they were still a party controlled in London and that's the crux for many Scots. They also created a voting system that meant a Party could NEVER dominate Holyrood, that failed miserably too.
Had the B.Liar/Donald Dewar vision come to fruition, half the issues we've had since would never have come to light.
