But Ray Davies is a witty and clever songwriter - so, if you must knight people, he'll do.

// Sir Ray Davies. What??//
who... I think
it is better than Sir Tufton Bufton who has trooped into the govt lobbies in the commons for 35 y. Altho I notice Sir Scrowden Bowden was squeeeezed in between an Olympian and a charity worker.The soon to be Sir Scrowden did valuable work on european tea break schedules before Brexit and should NOT be forgotten

and I was gonna say he was convicted of tax fraud ( DOddy)
but in fact he was acquitted.
Famous defence by George Carman QC - who fed him lines and Doddy completed the two-liner and made the jury roar with laughter
Judge complained that it was a court he was in and not a hoor-house
( Doddy had to pay the back tax ( a cool £1m) and also interest ( on a mill not a small amount) and pains and penalties ( civil ) of another million)
so he cheated the slammer but didnt quite get a way with it
