Martin Mcguinness: Ex-Deputy First Minster Will Not Stand In Ni Election

I am somewhat unwilling to enter the bear-garden that is NI politics, so I am posting this to make the point that McGuinness really doesn't look well at all.

When he was on the news earlier this week, I thought he looked pretty dreadful.

Mr McGuinness, 66, has been ill for a number of weeks and said this was a factor in his decision.

I don’t normally wish illness upon anybody, however odious, and would not celebrate any decision they had to make because of it. However, in the case of Mr McGuinness I’ll make an exception.

Without McGuinness, whatever you may think of his early career, has been a pivotal figure on N Ireland's peace process and I don't wish him any harm.
I hope nonetheless in the forthcoming election that the people will vote out the DUP and Sinn Fein and replace them with the Ulster Unionists and SDLP. Nesbitt and Eastwood would least be a fresh pair of faces at the top: there's no point the NI electorate complaining about the politicians if they are then going to yet again return the same parties in the same numbers.
And I hope Eamonn McCann won't be standing down. A legend in his own assembly :-)

An interesting life indeed, loved by some, loathed by others , recent appearance's on TV show quite an ill man. What a pity though to see such hatred in print .

The players may leave the stage but the same old tired lines that served to win elections in the past will continue to do so.
It will still be the DUP and Sinn Fein sharing power after the next election.
