Just heard that Tara Parker-Tomkinson has died aged 45.

Talbot, my sister had cancer and vehemently disliked all the 'battle' and 'fight' terminology - she didn't want to feel a failure about something beyond her control. Her death, she said, wouldn't be because she didn't 'battle' enough.

I have to agree with you, Neveracrossword. The idea that you're supposed to "battle" cancer - and if you fail it's somehow your fault - must be uncomfortable for sufferers. Most go along with the treatments, take the pills, do as the doctors order - and some live and some do not.

People fight cancer, they battle it. My dog fought Leishmaniasis, and ultimately lost his battle.

You can battle illness by keeping a positive mind, remaining steadfastly determined to keep going, enduring invasive treatment and making healthy lifestyle choices to improve your general health.

Oh, and it would seem that TP-T hadn't done drugs for years. Her body was exhausted and wracked with autoimmune disease which was severely impairing her quality of life .

Whilst I realise this thread has drifted from the Obit. Thread it started out as due to peoples determination to show how clever they are at nit-picking details only one person has introduced a Dog into the equation.

I have shown respect for TPT, but not for those who tried to use the thread for nit- picking over the terminology used or memories of their dogs.
