From Whitehouse news conference BBC, CNN, New York Times and LA Times. Is this the correct way for the white house to behave?

You must admit as well Naomi that Trump does not help himself in this regard: I'd go back to the Alex Ferguson Matt Busby story where the latter advised the former to ignore the press: just get on and govern in a less confrontational way. If you think the 'fake news' is going to stop because you start banning people then you are probably deluded.

ichkeria, I agree with you entirely that this latest move is unwise. However, there is no doubt whatsoever that a witch hunt is underway against him, evidenced not least I think by the anti-Trump demonstration, supposedly in support of Women’s Rights, that took place just weeks into his presidency.
Is it cos he speaks English?

Abers froth at the mouth at any perceived Trump indiscretion ... yet hardly any Aber gave a damn when Erdogan was shutting down media outlets with impunity and arresting editors.

''I stand with Turkey'' stated one particular Aber.
That was in relation to the hoo ha over the shooting down of a Russian plane
The reason people make a fuss about the good ok US of A is that we expect higher standards there
Ah, that'll be why then. ;o)
Not just higher standers.........he is appeaser Theresa (BFF) (best friend forever)

anneasquith, would you prefer our politicians to dispense with diplomacy and regard America with enmity, and if so, why? What purpose would that serve?
ichkeria, I have said that this decision is unwise.
I'd hate to see ms may looking very silly when trump implodes, she was positively breathless running to see him days after he won the election.........Britain needs friends even if it is the unpredictably , unfiltered, Trump .
Of course this is not good, but not unprecedented.
MArgaret Thatcher used the same tactic in the 1980s.
They held press conferences that told the press nothing, and then the PM's Press Secretary, Bernard Ingram would give off the record briefings to tame journalists, who would do as they were told.
Anyone even remotely critical we're not invited to Ingram's little gatherings.
That is the exact thing that Trump is now doing.
anneasquith, Mrs May was invited to meet Mr Trump. She did the diplomatic thing and accepted the invitation. No breathlessness involved – and if and when he does ‘implode’, that will not reflect on her. She’ll cope.
I think May is one of the few world leaders acting with any sort of common sense atm.

You didn't address 'appeaser Theresa' anne

Possibly better to say something like 'oops, slip of the keyboard' when called on something one had thought was wittily rhymed but have no answer for.
Anne....go girl, go !
They may stop the press but they will never stop Web sites.
