So AH, when we interned Germans in the war were we being racist.

No doubt with your liberal elite views you will say yes.

Mr Trump is not a racist, that list was drawn up during the Obama regime as countries posing a potential terrorist threat. It is the terrorists The Donald wants to keep out and that has been clear from the start. It is only when people like you deliberately twist it to suit your own agenda.
For the record I dont think Khan is a racist really either.
YMB - //So AH, when we interned Germans in the war were we being racist.

The 'So' Rule strikes again - the need to preface a post with the word 'So ...' which indicates that you are going to either miss the point of the post you are answering, or you are going to contradict something the original post didn't say, or both. Just the second one for you today.

What happens every time you post the worlds 'liberal' and 'elite' - does someone give you a pat on the head?

I'm not dignifying your comment with a direct answer.
I think the real racist is Trump, rather than Khan.

Trump implied that Gonzalo Curiel (the federal judge presiding over a class action suit against the for-profit Trump University), could not fairly hear the case because of his Mexican heritage.

Trump's management company quoted different rental terms and conditions to black rental candidates than it did to white candidates back in 1973. Trump called those accusations “absolutely ridiculous” - and then settled the case out of court.

Three years later...it happened again.

Three times in a row on February 28th last year, Trump sidestepped opportunities to renounce white nationalist and former KKK leader David Duke, who’d told his radio audience that voting for any candidate other than Trump would be “treason to your heritage.”

He's a birther.

He encouraged the mob anger that resulted in the wrongful imprisonment of the Central Park Five.

The men’s convictions were overturned in 2002, after they’d already spent years in prison, when DNA evidence showed they did not commit the crime. Today, their case is considered a cautionary tale about a politicized criminal justice process.

Trump, however, still thinks the men are guilty.

When two brothers were arrested in Boston in August 2015 for beating up a homeless Latino man (citing Trump’s anti-immigrant message when explaining why they did it), Trump did not even bother to distance himself from them.

Instead, he suggested that the men were "well-intentioned and had simply gotten carried away".
//The 'So' Rule strikes again //

So you have no argument and choose to belittle me with the usual scoffing and snorting of the liberal elite.

I rest my case.
// only eleven of the sixteen nations that ban Israelis were invited //

No country were excluded, but not every United Nations countries were there. But there were more than 100 attendees, not just Israel's enemies as Farage would have you believe.
There are 31 United Nations countries that do not recognise Israel. Not all of those have Emassies in London. To qualify for an invite they had to reside in London. So for example, the Syrian Embassy is currently closed, so they would not have attended. And there would have been some Ambasadors who would have been unable to attend, so no invite for them.
//because of his Mexican heritage//

I sort of see you point, but look at it from Mr Trumps point of view where he has taken quite a tough stance against Mexico. It is more than believable a Mexican may not be 100% impartial to The Donald.
Is Khan supposed to be racist because he objects to Trumps State visit? Is that really it?

I told you last week that I was ignoring anything you said that was not relevant to the discussion - as in your reference to the internment of Germans - ignored.
So not from me, I stated Mr Khan was not a racist in my view. Many other things but not a racist.
andy-hughes, the 'so' rule is nonsense. It exists only in your head.

I would be interested in your answer to youngmafbog's question.

SP, I think Trump had a valid point when he said the judge may not be impartial.
I would object to a State visit by Kim Jong-un, if ever one was extended.

Would that make me racist?
Naomi - //andy-hughes, the 'so' rule is nonsense. It exists only in your head. //

Actually, it exists on here as well - and people seem delighted to prove it, as YMB has done today.
naomi24

It's racist to posit that someone cannot do a job because of their race.

But leaving that aside, there are other instances (as I mentioned in my post) which leads me to believe that Trump trumps Khan in the racism stakes.
andy-hughes, what nonsense.

Is Sadiq Khan racist? Well, he did say that there are too many white men working for Transport for London, and he did accuse moderate Muslims of being ‘Uncle Toms’. Mmmmm…… not even really debateable.

Incidentally - why is it such a bad thing to be elite?

I have spent my entire life attempting to be elite and so have most of the people I know.

However, now the word seems to suggest something negative.

Weird isn't it?

Those who strive to better themselves through education, intellect and work experience are elite. They have nicer houses, better holidays, secure futures, and are able to provide their children with a better standard of education.

I would think that most sane people crave the position of 'elite'.

Better than 'average' or 'just getting by' surely?
Naomi - Great, saves you the tiresome task of debating then - we can expect to hear no more from you on this thread it seems.
SP, have you posted that on the right thread, and if so what are you talking about?
andy-hughes, you can dream. ;o)
naomi24

Yes.

It's a response to the use of the term 'liberal elite' from YMB.
