Apparently someone has been shot dead after trying to steal a soldiers gun.
Paris sure gets more than its' fair share of trouble !
Question Author
From the BBC 'A security operation is continuing with bomb disposal experts involved.'

But I suspect that may be standard procedure.
A police officer has been shot in a separate incident in Paris.
AOG would say: why oh why dont ABers see that this is obviously terrorist ?

well this certainly looks like it
and also reflects the change in attitude from - these are hostage takers and to negotiated with to the view these are killers and if we dont kill them they will kill us ...

it is a dangerous change ...
Question Author
Bit of a wild assumption at this stage PP. may turn out to be true but extrapolating a terrorist strategy from one shooting is a bit OTT. When have terrorists been seen as hostage takers?
Watching this on Sky News. Looks like separate incidents on two days running. Very troubling. I love Paris, so sad.
Question Author
Both shootings happened today.
// When have terrorists been seen as hostage takers?//

bataclan - 99 dead

froggie police outside waiting for negotiations and smoking cigarettes and people inside phoning out - saying you know they are killing us all dont you ?

how long does it take to kill 99 people ? around 90 mins I think
// Question Author Bit of a wild assumption at this stage PP.//

so AOG was right after all ? ( sorry AOG it was intended to be ironic)

no - - - - wild conclusion ( on the facts )
man grabs gun
how many times have you seen/heard that when they DON'T intend to use it ? None

how many gun deaths from terrorism have there been in gay Paree ( at least a few hundred ) compared to others ? ( fewer )

so the conclusion er seems reasonable
Question Author
They took hostages as the second phase of the attack at bataclan. Hostage's account here:

thx ZM I was completely unaware of hostage taking
More votes for Marine
Question Author
Ah ok. Your 'froggie police outside waiting for negotiations' comment seemed to suggest you knew about it.
o god I cant resist this.....

foreign news item - reported in foreign !
Naomi will go craaaaaaazy !

warning for those of a nervous disposition - O level French reqd
// our 'froggie police outside waiting for negotiations' comment seemed to suggest you knew about it.//

no the smoking cigarettes bit was meant to convey a lack of sense of urgency as they waited for the Paree HSE to declare "it was a safe environment in which to shoot people" - and knowing the HSE that could be a few days ....

[shades of Hungerford - not in France ]
Question Author
But you responded to and even quoted my comment. Why did you do that if your answer wasn't to challenge my hostage comment?
From sky news.//Police source says the man behind the Paris incidents was a radicalised muslim known to intelligence services//
It has been reported that both shootings are linked, and committed by a 'radicalised' Muslim (always safer to differentiate, it would seem)
