After a terrorist attack, some people say that 'action must be taken', and that 'the West must wake up'.

These are abstracts - can anyone explain in (without the use of abstractions) what specifically they mean by 'action'.

You are blaming RECENT immigration. But the police have said the terrorist "was investigated some years ago about extremism". So the chances are he is not a recent immigrant.

The man wrongly accused yesterday was born in this country, so wasn't an immigrant at all.
So why not just wait a couple of hours to see who and what he is before we blame Tony Blair or the Liberal Elite or recent immigration. Whe we have some facts, we can then comment on them. Blind speculation is pointless.

Why are some so against them, what have they got to hide?

The police have the right to ask a driver to show their driving licence, one needs a passport to travel overseas, one needs an ID badge in most areas of employment etc, etc.

I would absolutely support that. That would be a real and obvious action that we could take.

Not sure if the banning of halal meat is a workable response.

Unless the idea is to force all Muslims to leave the UK. There are some serious implications to that, which would need to be addressed if it ever were to come to pass.

On principle, I don't have an issue with ID cards (most people of my age group use their photo driving licence for just that purpose)...but I don't know how that would work as a counter-terrorism measure.

Given that he was in the Diplomatic protection group hc he really ought to have, IMHO.
Those who don't want such assignments can ask to become neighbourhood beat bobbies etc.
Those tasked with such specifics in the Palace of Westminster ought to have all necessary means at their disposal.

Driving and overseas travel are not compulsary, we have a choice whether to get a driving licence or a passport.

You say ID would help in so many ways, but then don't say what those many ways are. I don't think they would help at all. The money they would cost would be better used on methods that are known to work. The stimate for ID cards 10 years ago is that they would cost £5.4Billion. That money should go to things that genuinely prevent terrorism, not a useless bit of plastic.

I think we can say that he has already been identified, which sadly enough for some, rules out the possible chance that he may have been a 'white Muslim convert'.

"The 'lone wolf' jihadist,". How can he be a 'lone wolf' when some of his associates are already under arrest, and each one of them will be linked to a large number of others directly and via the internet - hundreds maybe thousands are involved and culpable.
I think the term should be dropped, it gets used in an attempt to dilute what this jihadism really is; well organised group terror.
