Yesterday’S Terror Attack Didn’T Succeed

So said an expert of terrorism (didn’t catch his name) on Radio 4 this lunchtime. It didn’t succeed? Really? Four innocent people, including a policeman, are dead, twenty lie injured, some very seriously, and pandemonium was created in the heart of our capital city. I’m not sure whether some of these people are living on a different planet, or whether they think by playing down the truth, somehow the fears of the public, whom I can't help thinking are perceived as fools, will be allayed, but either way it’s a blatant lie. Did it succeed? You can bet your boots it did!

No it did not succeed we are not all trembling gibbering idiots afraid to walk outside or afraid of our shadows.
The people who work in and around Parliament went back to work today they were not afraid so no they did not succeed.

I did not hear the expert on the radio, so it's hard without context to comment on what sounds like a crass statement.

The Prime Minister also used the words 'He did not succeed' in her speech but they were made in context referring to the fact the he (the attacker) had failed if his objective was to enter the House.

Four innocent people dead and a score or more injured. If I were a terrorist I would call that a success. I fully agree with Naomi.

Mamyalynne, he wasn't referring to the terrorist's intention to enter the House. I don't know what he was watching but it looked pretty successful to me.

Islay....I don't know what the intention was so I don't know if they/he thinks it's been a success......for me terrible pain and sorrow has been inflicted on a great many innocent people......that's not failure.

Theresa May said he was a peripheral figure investigated years ago by MI5 but not currently in the intelligence picture.....

How many more are there like him waiting to surface to carry out similar atrocities?......I think the answer to that would scare me somewhat.

First let me say that I really feel for the relatives of the dead & prayers that the injured will recover fully. I can't help thinking that if the murdered policeman had been in plain clothes the attacker would not have gone straight for him, in other words should we have more armed plain clothed officers on duty to allay straight forward attacks against the people who protect us & our MPs ?

For all we know the object was to kill a policeman and innocent people, yes they succeeded.
