Personally I cant stand the places. I liked to have a beer with mine and sit in a comfy seat without interruption from people all around me so I gave up many years ago. Plus the cost is ridiculous.

Looks like I am not alone, how about AB'ers?

Last time was early 90's and it was sooo expensive then, besides having to drive and pay parking fees (used to walk to local flea-pit - went twice a week when courting). A set-up, such as described earlier by someone; local, small, tables to chat at would attract me. Where I lived in France there was one like that in every town, usually at the village Salle. I think I will suggest it at the next Community Centre Committee meeting. Thanks Scooping (just remembered who posted concept).

I don't because there is no bus home at night and I just wait for the film to appear on Sky.

used to go a few times year when they had double features, now only to see new alien covenant film, and guardians of the galaxy 2
but will go to see new blade runner film when it comes out.

I have been out all day and haven't the time to read all the replies. But I can't remember the last time I went to the pictures. The thought of sitting in the dark, with all those people masticating away, fills me with dread !

I'm not a big film fan, but go a couple of times a year if there's something I particularly want to see. I don't like the huge chain cinemas, but our local one is small and comfortable.

We go if there's an action film that needs to be seen on a big screen or if the grandchildren are staying and the weather's grim, though I do find their films awful, I nearly nodded of through Beauty and the Beast.

I go as often as I can, but that is in spite of a huge number of disincentives, including:

- Far too many adverts
- Stupid gimmicks like 3D
- Rude staff
- Extortionate ticket prices

Last movie I went to was Titanic - the one with DiCaprio, cinema closed after that, was knocked down, a new cineplex built, first movie they showed was Titanic, I didn't go back - not been since. Gosh, 20 years since I've been to a movie :0

I used to go a lot but haven't for many years, I find it a bit claustrophobic these days. However depite the replies to this thread my 2 local cinemas always has long queues of people outside. I thought cinemagoing had had a considerable revival last few years.

not been to the films for a good long while, too damn expensive for one thing then there are the mobile phone users that pizz me off, what's the point of sitting through a film that you can't hear.

there's still something special about being in a crowd watching a film on a really big screen; but it seems Britons increasingly dislike and distrust each other these days. And my hearing is too poor for cinemas; I have to wait to watch a version with subtitles on TV or DVD.

I think the last time I went was to see Toy Story with my sons, haven't been for years.
Too expensive, uncomfy seats and the occasional rude member of staff.
