Finsbury Park Mosque

Finsbury Park Mosque was, until recently, the home of hate preacher Abu Hamza, eventually thrown out of the country. Judging by today's TV I am now expected to believe that it is the home of moderate, tolerant, enlightened Islamists. Can this miraculous conversion be ascribed to the Prophet, Peace be Upon Him, or to expediency?

The attack on the people leaving the Mosque was something to be condemned, and the actions of the people present to be applauded.

I don't think the driver was concerned with whether the Muslims he was trying to mow down were moderate Muslims or radical Muslims. I expect there has always been a fair number of moderate Muslims there.

Condemn attack. Period. Trying to say how can it be that the worshippers support Hamza one minute and now expect people to believe that they are moderates. Hope that is clear.

They can't be followers of Hamza one minute and worthy of our (multi-cultural, touchy-feely) respect the next.

Were they all followers of Hamza ? He acted as teacher didn't he ? Some may prefer a different teacher and not hold much faith in Hamza's interpretation. Those that were swayed now have other teachers to compare with and may potentially shift their view. For those that don't, well there is always the risk of extremists. Life's full of risk. It's identifying them and counteracting them that's key.

Didn't say all. But Hamza was their leader for goodness sake and, now he's gone, they purport to be moderates. Would only add that Fatwas should be addressed to Old Geezer please.

Of course nobody deserves to be slain in such a fashion. But it's a strange religion that sees its followers chucked out of their place of worship in the early hours of Monday morning. Most people I know are tucked up at that time as they have to be up for work the next day.
