It would seem that in today's comedy everyone and everything is up for ridicule except of course anything racial, Islamic etc, why is this?

Perhaps you didn't hear Trump's name mentioned, since you obviously wasn't at Glastonbury, but if you had taken the time to read the BBC's report, you could not have failed to read this.
/// "Can you bring Trump here?" he asked the audience, as he introduced a screening of his film The Libertine. ///
/// After receiving jeers from the crowd, he added: "You misunderstand completely. When was the last time an actor assassinated a president?" ///

The whole point of this is the fact that certain comedian's careers have been ruined for telling jokes aimed at non-whites and 12 people were actually killed in France all over a cartoon.
Yet it is perfectly acceptable to crack jokes at the Royalty, the Church, Politicians, why even this despicable person posed for this:

AOG - The whole point of what?
Your OP suggested that racial and Islamic targets for humour are out of bounds - I pointed out that they are not, and illustrated my point.
You now appear to be shifting your position to one which has nothing to do with the clip you posted.
You asked why race and Islam are not suitable subjects for comedy - I pointed out that your argument is not valid.

AOG - // And you really think that Frankie Boyle would be allowed to get away with what that black comedian had to say? //
The point about Chris Rock's routine is that he is a black man making jokes about black people to a black audience.
So a comparison with Frankie Boyle using that routine is meaningless.
However, if you wonder if Frankie Boyle would get away with a similar routine about white people for a white audience - not only does he 'get away' with it, it forms every one of his routines!

Well at least everyone can see him for what he is and if your aggrieved enough then vote with your feet and dont buy anything to do with him.
In answer to your question AOG, certainly anything racial can be a problem but thats mainly because of the law. With Islam it's slightly different because you will be gambling with your life.

Old_Geezer - // It is certainly ill considered, but I can see the dark humour within. Would have been best replaced by a quip less likely to be interpreted as a call to kill the president. //
I cannot see why Mr Depp's deliberately provocative humour provides a link with racial/religious taboos as suggested by AOG.
Have I Got News For You provides this type of satirical comment weekly on mainstream TV - it's really a non-issue in my view.

'Oblique as it was, Mr. Trump’s remark quickly elicited a wave of condemnation from Democrats, gun control advocates and others, who accused him of suggesting violence against Mrs. Clinton or liberal jurists.'
