I just find it un imaginable now that I used to go to pubs and clubs with people smoking, get home stinking from head to toe. Gawd even in my office in the early days smokers had ash trays on their desks. Just delighted that we have put this behind us. Apparently 2 million have stopped since the ban, probably partially due to vaping but I do know that some that stopped because of the ban. Anyone here stop in 2007?

The thought of having to go to a Pub, where the ashtrays overflowed on every table and the air reeked of cigarette smoke, fills me with revulsion.
We can all remember that days, when trains, including the Tube, had "No Smoking" carriages.

Most smokers I know just avoid pubs more. Some of them say they smoke more since the ban- they have one "because they can" in convenient places, where they used to not bother unless they actually wanted one. The government have no wish to stop people whatsoever- or they wouldn't choose the methods they have of continually telling people what they already know. But they have to show willing.
With all the knowledge we have now about the health dangers of smoking I am surprised anyone is still stupid enough to carry on smoking.
I am also surprised that supermarkets, that seem so concerned about our health if a food product is recalled for some reason, are happy to carry on selling cigarettes with a warning on the side saying "these cigarettes could kill".
I am surprised it is only 2 million that have given up, pity it is not 10 million.

I have worked in pubs and clubs since the mid 1960s and being a non smoker, the ban is the best thing that has happened, it's a purely selfish view point but thats how I see it, I would go home every night of the week stinking of other peoples smoke, I have had really bad sinus problems for many years which now, since the ban, are much better.
