The Muslim Council of Britain don't consider Ahmadis as Muslims, and they are banned in Pakistan from referring to themselves as Muslims.

Oh! dear.......the vultures are hovering. I am just guessing, but I suspect that AOG is using the word "mental" in a wide, non specific sense which is often used for say "confused" or "misled" or some such....NOT describing a mental health disorder. This type of ganging up by the same people against one member is getting monotonous and "dangerous".

Togo......this has ALWAYS been the AB way of doing business, it isn't new and it goes back almost a decade. At least then AB was well subscribed and could afford to lose members, but it is now sinking fast, unfortunately.
Seems like an anti-pack pack is forming, threatening to derail this thread. Shocking behaviour from 'Respected' AB members.
The Muslim Council of Britain don't consider Ahmadis as Muslims,

Does anyone want to address that statement?
I agree with whoever said if they consider themselves to be Muslims, they are Muslims.

Can we stay on track please?

Anyone fancy a prawn cracker?
Talby, I don't want to be banned or suspendered for posting what I think about the Muslim Council for Britain.
I will. The Muslim Council of Britain states quite clearly that it doesn't consider them to be Muslims.

^That was in response to Talbot's question.
From the horses mouth :
'Muslims should not be forced to class Ahmadis as Muslims if they do not wish to do so'

Sorry Naomi, duplicate link (but one worth emphasising eh! ;-))
Indeed.
Seems like it's a bit of a dead end debate.

/// I've already asked you what new angle of debate you hope to get out of this new thread AOG. ///

First and foremost I have already explained the reason I entered this thread, it is in the news.

Secondly I do not have to explain to you or anyone else who asks, "what do I hope to get out of this thread" as no one else is obliged to when they introduce a thread.

But to humour you, I wish to get out a decent all round debate on the subject, put before you and other ABers, isn't that what this site is all about.

Put up any opposite argument by all means, but without the need to derail a thread just because you dislike the subject in hand or indeed the particular poster.

/// So far you've basically called me 'the likes of you' ///

The "likes of you" is a common term to mean, persons such as you.

/// told me not to join in ///

I have not told you not to join in, only if you have nothing constructive to add to the debate, or you state that it is yet another pointless thread. As others have suggested, there is no compulsion to join in, if you feel it is a pointless exercise.

/// and suggested I may be mentally ill. //////

I have not suggested that you may be mentally ill, please see Sqad's excellent explanation.

/// Can I ask you to point out where I've insulted you? ///

You insult me, almost on a daily basis.

I do hope that I have now answered all of your questions, although I am not saying that they might please you, but that is the best you are going to get, since I have spend far too much time already attending to your own particular sensitivities.

Zacs, Not at all. The thing is we have all these people gleefully jumping on a bandwagon and saying ‘See, the Muslims are making a stand”, or words to that effect. Just one problem. The majority of Muslims don’t consider those making a stand to be Muslim, so in fact the Muslims aren't making a stand.
what do you think to content in the link Naomi and myself provided AOG?
Yes, I'm fully conversant with the Muslim / non Muslim issue N. pointing that out isn't really furthering the debate in any way.
Interesting link from you both, it does rather flat and pointed 'they exist,we should tolerate but not harm them, but we cannot accept their views'.

I don't see a clear way for anyone to easily alter their stance, in the end it will have to be down to individuals making their own choices.
^ it does seem rather...
Zacs, since you said it’s a bit of a dead end debate I presume you're finished with it. However, others might find additional comments to be food for further thought.
Exactly mamya. I don't see any way to get over this obstacle.
Do you mind if I point out why that's not the case Naomi, or do you wish to silence me as well?
