How there is no outcry on AB about streets being shut down for this - yet just the other week they were on here complaining about Pride shutting down the streets!
I wonder why?
We may have pals who are cyclists or work with folk who are cyclists but why can they not have a wee pedal up and down a quiet country lane? Why do these folk need to flaunt the fact that they're cyclists?
One man and his dog watching, 100,000 actually taking part.
The clue is in the title.
I can't comment on the road closures as I am not there, but surely someone is missing the point of what this is about :-)
Why on Earth do we humour Cyclists like this. They pay no Road Tax, they have no Insurance , most of them don't understand the Rules of the Road, yet we do this for them. MADNESS imo.
'RideLondon organisers claim the event has contributed £82 million to London's economy since its first edition in 2013 and has also raised £41million for charities'
Disruption for one Sunday a year doesn't seem so bad. I'm sure Londoners knew it was happening
Baldric often goes on about us not having insurance despite being told that many of us do......
I am covered by my house insurance and also pay just under £100 per year for extra Cycleguard cover.....x
Any cyclist who is covered by house/contents insurance will almost certainly have third party cover for any accidents/damage which he/she causes - I would suggest that this is rather more than "a few" and probably a majority.
AB might not be complaining (until now) but looks like the Daily Mail is doing it for them.
If I was "Will Sutton" I would be rather embarrassed.
If I didn't know better I'd say the Wail was taking the **** out of some of the moaners.
I remember when the roads in Birmingham city centre were shut for the Birmingham Superprix. The drivers certainly weren't in awe as the roads were lumpy and bumpy, possibly with a pothole or two for added excitement.
