There really is no point descending into "whataboutery", it's shallow and just makes false equivalencies. A young woman has now been killed, ostensibly over a statue. This question should have been put to bed when the council voted. It's their jurisdiction and their responsibility. A bluddy statue is not worth killing over. Also I just don't buy the idea...

/// Trump has missed an opportunity to reclaim some of his badly damaged reputation, by condemning the actions of these people, ///

Read what the article says mikey, instead of trying to come out with yet another of your regular anti-Trump rants.

*** President Donald Trump condemned "in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry, and violence on many sides".***
Yes AOG. Donald was right to not single out the people carrying Nazi flags on American soil. No one has died to prevent that.
AOG; No matter what Donald Trump says or does, he will be denigrated out of hand by the questioner.
Question Author
AEOG...Trump is being widely criticised for not condemning the Far Right....in fact, when he was asked that question directly at his Press Conference, he stalked off without giving an answer.
"We condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence on many sides, on many sides,"

He emphasised the 'many sides', and looking at the footage, he appears to me, to be right.

/// Trump is being widely criticised for not condemning the Far Right....in fact, ///

Why should he be forced to condemn the Far-Right specifically?

The Far-Left are just as bad, and he has condemned all sides, so that should be enough.
ANOTHEOLDGIT, members of his own party think he needs to do more, 'Mr. President - we must call evil by its name," tweeted Sen. Cory Gardner, R-Colorado. "These were white supremacists and this was domestic terrorism." Tweeted Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, another fellow Republican: "Very important for the nation to hear @potus describe events in #Charlottesville for what they are, a terror attack by #whitesupremacists."'
//terror attack by #whitesupremacists."' //
But it wasn't - they were the ones attacked!
I suspect Rubio is referring to the bit where a white supremacist ran over and killed someone.
According to the logic of the 44th president surely these people are not white supremacists they are just supremacists?
He pointedly failed specifically to condemn the screaming racist morons who descended on this town, and for that he deserves every condemnation thrown at him.
I agree with that, ichkeria.

Khandro writes´No matter what Donald Trump says or does, he will be denigrated out of hand by the questioner. ´ but of course he will also be supported by many no matter what he says or does as we have seen on here many times.
Had the crime been committed by a Left-Wing black protester, would some be demanding that the black protesters specifically should have been condemned?
Question Author
I see that the VP, Mike Pence has at last admitted that

"We have no tolerance for hate and violence, by white supremacists or neo-Nazis or the KKK,"

Trumps own daughter, Ivanka, has also condemned the Far Right ::

“There should be no place in society for racism, white supremacy and neo-nazis.”

So I can't see why Trump doesn't do the same. I wonder if its because that is where his power base is located ?

Mikey, //I wonder if its because that is where his power base is located ?//

Is it?
well it's a bit like you really preaching "road safety issues" at me when you clearly have been involved in more crashes. It goes without saying that any sensible person would condemn these morons, must we all do it individually to make you happy? I suspect trump is just refusing to be bullied into it by assorted media popinjays.
Question Author
TTT....Trump is refusing to be specific because he knows that it harm some of his core support.

Almost everybody else, Republicans as well Democrats have seen no problem in condemning the actions of these racists, so the fact that Trump can't or won't speaks volumes.
People on here and elsewhere wish to conflate the maniac who drove his car into the crowd with 'white supremacy', as though that is what they do I believe that savage act has nothing whatever to do any ideology but is the act of a deranged mind and should be viewed as such.
Mikey, that really is abject nonsense - but what's new?
Question Author
Not nonsense at all Naomi....see this post ( again )

Highly articulate but quite clearly racist.....listen to what he says :::::::
