Have guards in every carriage. 3. No drunk people allowed on trains. 4. Vet anyone getting on a train. 4. Proper, useful and high definition cctv with sound in all carriages.
There will always be people, well I say people but some of them are sub human, who will do whatever they like, whenever they like and herding women into an area just for them is not addressing the underlying problem.

well with reported hate crime being on the increase, perhaps we should consider providing, Jews only carriages, Muslims only carriages, Blacks only carriages, Gays only carriages, and one specifically for those nasty horrible Heterosexual White Males?
And before any of you jump in with your insults, I don't travel by train.

I remember the time of the single carriages on trains with no corridor.
A male was a fool to enter one of those if just a lone female happened to be seated in that carriage.
There were numerous cases where female had demanded money from men with the threat that if they didn't pay up they would pull the communication cord and cry sexual assault.
The poor male victim wouldn't have a leg to stand on.

I really would like to know the breakdown of that figure but cant seem to find anything. Interestingly it does include London Underground and it would appear many assaults occur during rush hour so presumably on packed tube trains or stations. Women only carriages in rush hour simply would not work.
Without the breakdown it is impossible to suggest solutions jno, indeed some of the increase could probably be contributed to more people coming forward, which is a good thing. If you know where the breakdown is please point me in the right direction.

How about non-criminals only carriages? This would create safe spaces for non-criminals, where they'd be free from the unwanted attention of criminals.
Any criminals entering these carriages and committing crimes could be dealt with by the existing legal system.
The scheme could be extended to cover all carriages if it proves successful.
