No, Gulliver. What should have happened is: 1. On 24th June 2016, Article 50 should have been triggered, with a statement saying that we are no longer part of the European Union. 2. An announcement made inviting those who want to trade with us to come and talk. 3. A declaration made that we would only pay for what we were absolutely, fully committed to, up to the...

Barnier was put in place because he has history of being anti British (see his City antics). Junker too is very ant British along with a large chunk of EUSSR leaders.
It is absolutely no surprise what is happening. It could be seen clearly from previous trade agreements the EU have tried to negotiate that it was not going to happen in 2 years. Quite why remoaners (as opposed to remainers) feel the need to insult my intelligence and falsey accuse me of my thoughts is beyond me.
It is not problem not having a trade deal there is a big World out there far bigger than the inward facing EU. It is ours for the making and from what I see that is where we are making progress. I have not seen any reports of the EU trying to make trade deals to make up for any loss the UK leaving may bring. But then no surprise as it is pretty dark up Barniers backside which is clearly where his head lives.
ZM does have a point though, we need to abide by Article 50 process to avoid any more action from the 'remoaners'. In addition, like OG I do accept there will be some things to pay such as pensions for OUR MEP's (although they should simply be transferred over to the UK along with the pot built to date). But, this should be costed and offset against assets so will be no where near the figure quoted.

The simple fact was, is, and remains - that no matter who is talking about it - from the negotiators down to the man on the Clapham omnibus - no-one knows what is going to happen.
We are all in uncharted territory, so anyone professing to speak with authority about the future is a liar and a fool, and an arrogant lair and a fool for presuming to be able to see into the future and know what is there.
