AOG....I suspect that your post was removed because you conflated multiculturalism and the desire of a minority of Police to carry guns.
And you are wrong about the survey ::::
"The Police Federation interviewed a quarter of the workforce, saying 34.1% supported routinely arming officers. In 2006, when the body last conducted firearms research, 23.4% of officers backed routine arming"

Ok I see mikey. Right, given that the whole legal system of the UK exists primarily to protect criminal low life scum plod is correct. I can fully understand that they would not want to be persecuted as they would be if they shot a low life. The CPS are a leftist cabal who base prosecutions on who they like or dislike rather than any real evidence or trendy attitudes that no one can really fathom. Yes I have an entire file of my own experience with them, I was dragged through the courts and, thankfully found not guilty by the beaks who could see the obvious. Anyway, yes I can understand why plods of today do not want to carry guns, better to let the scum get away with it rather that ruin your own life via anti British liberals without a clue.
"More than half of officers completing the survey said they would be prepared to routinely carry a gun (55%), compared with 45% in 2006."
If the above is true and I have no reason to question it, then although more than half police officers would be prepared to carry a gun routinely. One must assume, I suppose, that these very same officers would back routinely carrying a gun.
The figures can really mean what you want them to do and do seem rather at odds with each other.
We are sailing into troubled times and terrorism is an ever growing threat to which I feel should be countered by arming the police.
All police are armed in Spain and it seems quite natural and may i say......reassuring.
