Mrs May still refuses to slap her Foreign Secretary down....no wonder she is being thought of now as a weak, ineffectual Leader. The Tory Party has been here before...remember John Mmmmajor ?

Perhaps someone should tell may ,and the tories this is not about them it's about this country ,so if you want a wee difference do it ,but this country matter s to the Great British public .So as you have shown you are not fit to look after the interest of this country why do you not just step aside and let those who can do the job .

Perhaps you are right but if they pibble about and challenge her too much right now they will be on the sticky end of the wicket.

They would do well to shut up and wait for a more appropriate time.

All they are doing at the moment is feeding your hopes.
Mrs May said, //"leadership is about ensuring you have a team... of different voices around the table so you can discuss matters".//

…. but I’m not surprised you don’t agree with that, Mikey … you supporting a ‘Do as I say not as I do” organisation and all that. I don’t think she’s weak and ineffectual. She has the most difficult job of any peace time Prime Minister and she's doing it with dignity. I wouldn’t want her job.

Cassa....the difficulty here is that after the disastrous Election, and aftermath, May needs to show some backbone. But she isn't. Perhaps there isn't any backbone left ?
B.J. wants the bullet, he's an embarrassment to the UK.
Perhaps you should contact her Mikey, and tell her how you'd like it done.

The advice I would give May is this....start acting like a Leader, not some shy, retiring Aunty, that just wants a quiet life.

One of her female predecessors would have solved this problem of an unruly, disloyal Cabinet a long time ago.

Of course, as a Labour supporter, I hope she continues to piddle about...its all grist to the Labour mill.
//not some shy, retiring Aunty, that just wants a quiet life. //

A quiet life? You are joking of course!

May needs to grow some testicles...either that or stand aside and let some one else take over the role.

"One of her female predecessors would have solved this problem of an unruly, disloyal Cabinet a long time ago."
When she was slung out you mean ?

Theresa May can't afford to take another massive risk, previous ones blew up in her face. It might even result in Boris Johnson or even Jacob Rees-Mogg taking over and making a decent job at getting out of the EU.
And yet, Maggie Thatcher loved her government of yes men .
Mikey you didn't read my post properly.

It doesn't matter what she is like just now. They need her otherwise they let your lot lose with the hand grenades. Once her job is done they can then look at leadership. However I tend to agree with Naomi. Just because she isn't a bull in a china shop doesn't mean she isn't bullish when needed. (Although I would grab Boris by the testicular and make him sit on his hands for a while)

The arguments are about Brexit and although there will inevitably be disagreement on what is the best way, what the Tory party Don't need right now is bickering, backbiting and power struggles.

Leave all that for calmer times.

The UK has a convention of cabinet collective responsibility which Johnson is blatantly breaking. May is clearly spinning to avoid the fact that she does not have the authority to sack him.
Kromo
//she does not have the authority to sack him//
She certainly has the authority. The question is does she have the will to rock the boat.
'keep your friends close, but your enemies closer'
springs to mind
Isn't Boris complying with collective responsibility ? Just clarifying his take on the government position. Trying to assure folk, in the face of the evidence, that they are on track to look after UK interest after all.
remember john Major? Yes he's the one that beat Kinnochio in 1992.
Which bit of not the right time to step aside or a power grab isn't getting through.

Oh wait I think it is the Corbynistas and Labourites that are trying to push the subject in the hope it happens.

Now is the wrong time to sack Boris, but I predict there will be a reshuffle fairly soon after the Conference.
But Boris will be moved from Foreign Secretary(a position he is patently unsuited for) and given a more junior Cabinet post, possibly Northern Ireland. Probably give Hammond Foreign Secretary. Let a new Chancellor do the Autumn Budget.
Mischief making Gromit ?

As chancellor of the exchequer he has some excuse for being a remainer (ooo can't rock the boat, we might need to cope with an economic blip trying to put things right as a nation by getting out of the EU). But moved to an area such a foreign secretary where he'd be expected to get involved in, well foreign relationships with the EU ? There'd be ructions in the party, and generally. It'd polarise things even more and likely lead to a leadership challenge.
