// Perhaps burkas or Mosques could be banned//
especially if sold by brown people - or brown looking people
who was saying there was a back story this post ?
[ for those slow on the uptake - step forward AOG and let us congratulate him on waiting for as many as seven posts before dragging a burqa into it ]
Regarding Knights Templar and Muslims, where will it end should we remove Richard 1st and any mention of the Crusades from the history books, should the Express also be forced to change it's logo?
Peter Pedant - // muslims not keen on them - BUT - I dont think I would go around complaining about this sort of thing //
I don't believe we have any evidence to suggest that it was a Muslim person who complained.
jack advances a reasonable argument for it being another stall-holder - but we should be wary of debating the argument as though it is taken as read that the complainant was a Muslim, I don't believe we know that for a fact.
Is there any way to find out the other side of the story?
We know Miss Gayle's side of the story, but obviously she's presenting it in the best light for her.
By the way - loving this bit:
//She said many of her customers are actors who take part in WWII re-enactments and explained how items she sells, such as a book that shows detailed descriptions of soldiers' uniforms, can help them accurately portray characters.
Speaking at the time she said: 'It will be such a shame if they take away the chance for an ordinary citizen to research whatever historical information they wish.//
If only such information were available for free, like on some global web of some sort, which you could reach by computer.
// where will it end should we remove Richard 1st and any mention of the Crusades //
well - Richard I's liking for men and not liking very much women ( Altho I agree he did marry Berengaria in Sicily on the way to the crusades ) has been airbrushed from the books
[ Richard or 'Dick' was a gay boy in case the allusion has escaped you AOG]
and also his massacring prisoners of war
( no chivalry for Dicko - a bit early for that - big 200 y later )
yeah my father's bug bear was that you wore an iron cross or had a button hole ribbon but you didnt wear both at the same time
( er if you had an iron cross that is !)
AH if you read my post ( hahahahaha!), I didnt state a muslim HAD complained - but hey this is AB so anything goes !
/// If only such information were available for free, like on some global web of some sort, which you could reach by computer. ///
What are you suggesting sp, the abolishment of books, since 'some of us' have computers? //
Not for the first time, sp was exercising his considerable and varied sense of humour - not suggesting anything other than a smile, was the way I read his post.

" If a person is exercising his considerable and varied sense of humour then that person should enter this symbol at the end of the passage. :0)"
I see you used it in a previous post, a mistake surely?
