-----/// What better if you can deflect the blame elsewhere. ///
What do you mean, putting the blame on the Muslims?
Some of the those nasty stall holders could be Muslims, there are an awful lot of them that stand the markets. -----
Let's face it, AOG, you'd have been much more comfortable if this thread had taken a mosey down that particular route from the outset.

/// AOG, why does every discussion you take part in have to include a slanging match between you and another Aber? ///
I really don't know perhaps you would be better asking those who's daily enjoyment is to gang together and take swipes at me, it may be my choice of newspaper, my choice of subject matter, my choice of headline, the occasional spelling mistake, just about anything they can find.
But unlike others who in the past they have driven from AB, just because they hold an opposite view to them, they have yet failed to drive me away, because I can equally tackle them at their little game, and it just irritates their little minds so, so much.
On here it is acceptable for one to wish the whole Royal Family shot, The country forever ruled by a Red Labour Government, unlimited immigration, the banning of Christianity, and the acceptance of being ruled by Europe.
But never criticise Ethnic minorities or LBGT, don't support UKIP, Trump, Nigel Farage, never read the right-wing press or even dare to have a mind of one's own.
Then and only then, will the flock welcome you into their fold and issued you with the obligatory rose tinted specs and a bowl of muesli.

andy-hughes //I worry that one person is able to 'take offence' and cause a situation where a trader is sanctioned for selling legal merchandise. //
That's the problem I have with it. In theory anyone complaining to that council about anything on the grounds of 'offensiveness' can get it removed from sale. However, as if that isn't bad enough, you can be sure it won't be applied even handedly.
For example, there must be loads of vegans who find the sight of butcher's shops with raw meat displays on that same market incredibly offensive. Would the council sanction tell them to stop selling meat? Of course not.

She should not have been banned for selling these mugs ... it really is that simple.
The council should apologise and let her start trader on her stall asap.
Some posters see the word 'Muslim' and instantly start attacking whoever has offended either a Muslim or a dipstick who decides to get offended on behalf of the Muslims.
