Is dressing up an 8 year old transgender boy as a girl, only going to solve the issue for a short time? Would it be better to have a sex change operation now, or later in life?
I don't think this child is an Hermaphrodite ( a person or animal having both male and female sex organs or other sexual characteristics)
The child is Transgender which is different!
I don't think even "transgender " can be applied to one so young..it's dressing up .. most children do it... it's playing houses whatever..give it time... my nephew would not go anywhere without his doll /pram/ an old handbag with bling in...dress up in mum's stuff etc... all forgotten after it got boring... certainly no medical intervention
Jaysus - no fighting please. Islay, Mamy is correct it was an aside post - nothing to do with the transgender child.
My sister entertains a little boy and his sista every weekend when they visit their GaSam - boy absolutely adores pink, doll's houses, ballet slippers etc etc. The loveliest sweetest and brainiest 6 year old I have encountered.
as Murray says - at that age it is only dressing-up time.
Scans would tell if she was a hermaphrodite......probably a transgender but will need to develop and work with the specialists to bring through the feminine side with hormones and suppress the testerone side - and then make the decision to operate somewhere around puberty and into the teenage years....there are no hard fast rules and a lot of it is determined by the mind, hence two psychs needed for sign off prior to any consideration of reassignment surgery (or major intermediate stages like having an orchiectomy).
No one is fighting JJ please don't say there is - I am happy to accept Mamya explaination on your behalf even if I think it is ****!
Why suddenly bring something in that has nothing to do with the story being discussed - there isn't - I think you got confused - which is OK by the way but now you are trying to cover it up!
By the way Mamya and I go way back and I would never argue with her for all the tea in china!
