A Fool And His Money ...

Perhaps I am getting old but I really dont get this. It's a ruddy phone, I have had a mobile since 1990 and I can't remember getting worked up about any of the ones I have bought.
Not that I would ever buy Apple.
Can anyone who knows the reason for it explain to me why the euphoria?

Then you should seek medical help.
“How does anyone manage to drop a phone down the loo?”
Because some people “…live on their mobile, take pix, converse constantly, watch films etc etc,”
I was in the gents in a pub once. The chap at the next stall to me had his phone clutched between his shoulder and his ear (both hands being used to conduct his “business”), talking inane drivel into it. It slipped from his ear and fell into the urinal. He retrieved it, hastily wiped it dry down the front of his trousers, returned it to his ear and carried on his inane conversation. As I said, medical help urgently required.

I have a Galaxy 7 Edge. I am also a keen photographer with several cameras film and digital. I HATE to have to say it but the camera on my phone is so good it's better than any digital camera I have. Some 'pro' photographers are now finding that a top of the range phone camera is as good as a £ thousand or more worth of camera gear.
Some are doing wedding shoots on them.
I hardly use a camera at all now as the phone one is so good. You can even set up the phone camera to transmit 'Direct Broadcast' straight to a TV / News network as long as you have the authority to do it.
If I saw a newsworthy event I could phone a TV station connect up and do a live broadcast direct from my phone. The same applies to anyone with an late model Android or iphone .
I can also set the phone to take a photo just by saying a preset word such as 'smile' or 'photo' it recognizes the voice speaking it as well as the word itself . So it won't go off if someone other than me speaks the word.
The potential for perverts is so far as I am aware unrecognised.
I was once questioned over haveing a large SLR camera and telephoto lens in a park , I was using it to take photos of my grandkids playing on the roundabout, the questioner was happy with that. But how many realise a modern camera phone is far more powerful and can be totally concealed?

Me too, Eddie. I had (have) a good Panasonic Lumix with a Leica lens, which in its day was brilliant, but lately when it came to taking good close-ups of some old medals I want to record, my iPad did the job - and did it better - the autofocus is superior to the Panasonic's, plus the fact that I could instantly view the results in large format, rather than either squinting at the tiddly Panasonic screen, or transferring them to my computer.
Still only got an old £15 Nokia phone, though!
