The letter writing exercise isn't new and I think it should br dropped.

Teaching about World Religions is enough without this on top.

Yes, this angle has been used over the years for all sorts of subjects but not all children are robust enough to separate the reality out of the exercise.

islam is not a religion persay, but a political ideology, it's not love thy neighbor etc, its a very heinous ideology, read it for yourself, it has no place in any western country.

I can't see any harm in it but I think it's a slightly narrow remit, surely it would have been better to get the kids to write a letter about changing to another religion ( one different to their own) and let the children choose which- I mean what do the Muslim kids write about?

I've just done a quick Wiki check on radiation and the instances of grooming for sex, blowing up children at concerts, driving trucks through crowds of innocent people, killing journalists who draw cartoons and demanding worship five times a day with a side order of slay the unbeliever are, to all intents and purposes, nil.

No it's not but for the purpose of this a child might be able to write about a lack of belief as well as a change of religious belief.

read it, then come back, and give me your opinion. in my opinion it should be banned

I'm aghast that a 12 year old would be asked to do that, I'm aghast at those who think it's OK and I'm really aghast if that's the teacher's handwriting.
