I've read that of all of them, andy, though obviously I can't vouch for the truth of it. But it certainly looks that way when you read their books. Archer and Rowling go on rather too long; McCall Smith doesn't but his work has lots of little repetitions and clumsinesses that an average editor would sort out. But they're all big sellers and so laws unto themselves.
