I think the negotiations will extend long after 2022. No matter what the government say. Remember it took 17 years of negotiations to get in and getting out is infinitely more complex. I see this as yet another hint that the real exit will be long after the 2 years is up.
//However, it could be sooner if the prime minister calls one, and MPs agree to it, or if the government collapses.//
Has Gove gone over to Labour?

You may very well be right Ed, but for this pillock to suggest that once we leave the EU, we can just join again is seriously misleading.....and Gove should know it.
He hasn’t suggested anything about re joining Mikey.
Question Author
Danny....that is supposing that Labour wanted to remain in the EU, and they let the public have another Referendum.

Even if they did, I think too much water has gone under the bridge to change now.

What we should all be hoping for, Brexit supporters and Remain supporters alike, is that Britain can get the best possible from now on.

Much crowing was done by May yesterday, but the really hard negotiations have yet to start.

By the way, I asked on here yesterday if anyone knew what will now happen to the NI/Eire border, post this weeks agreement, but I never got much response.

This was a genuine question, as I still have no clue as to how that tricky situation is going to be handled.

Will we have a hard border or not ?
Why dont you read the story correctly instead of going off half cock with your name calling.

If is very clear he is banging on about the deal not whether or not we leave the EU.

Now who is the pillock I wonder?
a) He has not said that
b) Clearly, to you, anyone who is not a Corbyn fan is a 'pillock'.
Question Author
Zacs....so just what is Gove saying ?

By 2022, we will be out of the EU, n some form or another, so just how will we be able to change the "final deal"
//Will we have a hard border or not ? //

Do you understand what the term 'negotiations' means?

No one can tell you because it has not been agreed, it cannot be agree because we dont know the shape and form of any Trade Deal or even if there will be one. Even Theresa the Appeaser can't dictate other Parties have to agree too.
Question Author
Same question to YMB and jack.............how will we be able to change the deal, in 2022, when we will have left in 2019 ?

Do you really think that the EU will be willing to renegotiate the deal so far into the future, given all the argy-bargy that we have, and will be going through ?
He seems to be stating the obvious, once we leave the EU and running our own affairs the public can elect/ re-elect who they want at a general election.
Perhaps he means that if the voters think the "terms" are too wishy washy, or favour the Eurocrats, we can vote to stiffen them up.
Who, apart from the Irish, gives a gnat's chuff about whether the border is hard or soft? I can see the case for a hard border as it would be a way for undesirables to sneak into the UK.
Read the article Mikey. If you don’t understand it, why comment?
Mrs May has stated, quite firmly, that there will be no hard border in Ireland.
I thought it was an odd thing to say: not so much because of the timing but because along what lines exactly does he think people would vote? It is very unsatisfactory: lots of issues arise at elections.
The best way for this to be decided is by parliament (MPs must be able to vote BEFORE we've left!) or another referendum.
mikey did you see my answer to you at 21.56 on this thread?

Vulcan....that is indeed stating the obvious....at every Election we have the ability to change the party in power. But that is not what Gove is saying ::::::

"But, writing in the Daily Telegraph, he said if British people "dislike the arrangement", they can change it"

Change the deal to leave the EU is what he means......as this will probably not be before June 2022, and we will have left the EU by then, just how do we get the EU to the negotiating table again ?
Question Author
Zacs..... I do understand the article...he is saying that in 2022, we will be able to change the deal, by changing the Government, when we will already have left the EU.
You obviously don’t. I think in your haste to do a little Conservative bashing, you’ve missed the bit about laws. Try reading it again.
