Its quite clear that the Officer had no need to kill this man, so how can he have been found not guilty ?

Is it any wonder that the American Police are losing their credibility ?

It's America, Mikey, he acted as he'd been trained to do.

Thank our lucky stars we live in the UK...
He had been told exactly what to do and how to move - he didn't do it. It's too late when he draws a weapon and shoots the cop. American cops are trained to shoot to kill as a wounded criminal can always shoot back. You see videos on YouTube of people drawing a gun and shooting at a policeman just for a traffic stop. We need to protect the police.

Ummm...Amen to that !

But the evidence of the body cam seems to show that the man was trying to comply with all that the Officer was asking him to do.
Question Author
bhg...watch the video again ::::::: he was doing exactly what the Officer told him to do. He was pleading for his life, and he was unarmed, and no danger to the Police.
Question Author
The defence that the Officer gave was that he thought that the man was armed, so therefore he shot and killed him.

But the man was not armed.

So this would appear to give the American Police freedom to kill anybody, if they thought that the person was armed !
Difficult...very difficult

"He was pleading for his life, and he was unarmed, and no danger to the Police." In retrospect ......yes, but at the time mikey that would have been a sweeping statement. He made a move to his waste...supposing he had an explosive device.....just supposing.
If you decide to shoot him, then you have to kill him.....whatever it takes.
One has to be at the scene, in the moment of decision and then, make that decision.
I agree with the post of bhg.

Sqad....an explosive device ?
Sqad. Waste? Really? :)

I am unable to see through the cop's arm but the cop said he moved his hand towards a place where a weapon might be. You have milliseconds to make up your mind what to do - my sympathies lie with the policeman. In America, where most criminals are armed, they cannot afford to take the risk.
mikey.........why not?
Bathsheba.....I don't understand your post.
Sqad - waist - fancy a surgeon not knowing that.
Waist/Waste, Sqad.
Arrrrrrrgh!.....just got it.....sorry Baths.........waste(waist)
;-)
Sorry Sqad - sometimes the spelling police just have to pounce (but notice we didn't shoot you).
If anyone needs a post ending, just send for me

I saw that video yesterday... absolutely horrific. There has to be a better way of dealing with such situations as they are becoming too common.
