Sounds a decent plan when the time comes though. We do special ones for Xmas. And much more worthy than some royal event nonsense. Sounds like remainer sour grapes from the powers that be in the PO or whoever made the decision.

I'm surprised the Post office has said no, they usually jump at any opportunity to make money. They first introduced commemorative stamps in 1953 for the coronation and it consisted of four stamps. Over the years this has multiplied to about 9 or 10 sets a year and each set can contain up to twenty stamps. It has become a money making racket as a lot of the stamps don't commemorate anything important but they know the world wide collectors will still buy them.
It is of course a daft idea. But thanks for the question — allowing gromit’s brilliant answer :-)
