Over 3000 employees could find themselves unemployed by Christmas because of a £9m hole in the pension fund. Toys R Us UK say they cant afford the money. The money is a relatively small amount in multinational terms, so why isn't the parent company bailing its UK subsidary out?

Thanks for the link - cant believe a multinational company hasn't got a bigger online presence.
Barney....I think they they do, but most of their stuff is shifted from big warehouses and I guess they cost money to keep going.

Add to that the enormous competition these days, when we have far too many retail outlets, on-line and in the High Street, and I am guessing they are going the way of Woolworths.
I have never understood why, in their logo, they reverse the letter 'R'. It looks like the last letter of the Russian alphabet but the sound it represents is not 'R' but 'Ya'.
Jack....a silly American affectation.
Jackdaw, companies do things like that so that people remember them... and it works because we do.
Naomi...yes but not enough, as the current collapse of the company shows.

Too many companies screwing their employers out of their pensions.
Maxwell, Green who's next?

...oh and Tata Steel too.
Mikey, the company isn't collapsing because the public don't recognise it. People prefer to buy at competitive prices and Toys R Us is expensive.
