// the police using underhand methods to achieve an aim //
The raid on Green’s office was carried out under the advice available at the time. No one seemed to know what the correct procedure was, especially the Serjeant at Arms, who let the police in, though she seemingly didn’t know that she was not obliged to.
Green faced no action about the leaks even though there was ample evidence that the Civil Servant (now a prospective Conservative MP) and Green were leaking.
The porn allegations were in the Select Committe evidence on the leak inquiry, where they lain for several years. It was only when a Conservative activist said Green had acted inappropriately to her, that the porn allegation resurfaced, and Green attacked the Police involved in the raid. That prompted the forensic investigator to support his fellow officer by (probably illegally) publishing a page from his notebook.
If the allegation is that the Police’s aim was to bring down Green, then I don’t think that holds up. Green’s downfall was of his own doing.
