May was a dodgy Home Secretary, though she was long serving. But that has to be seen in context of a coalition Government and a lacklustre bunch of material to choose from.
The Cameron Government and The EU referendum were judged on immigration, and it was May who failed dismally to cut immigration. She promising to cut by a factor of x10 the number of people coming here, but instead doubled it. She is directly responsible for the dire situation we are in.
anne, I thought she was the best of a bad lot. She probably still is, even when being circled by the Brutuses and Cassiuses of her own party.
British voters deserve better than this inept group of cowboys :-(
Anne....we do indeed deserve better.

What is happening to May and the Tory Party now, is like watching a road crash, in slow motion.
Mikey, I thought you had a real problem with the police using underhand methods to achieve an aim. What happened to that?
Naomi....Green could have told the truth at any time over the last few weeks and months, but he choose not to, on many occasions. Does anybody now still believe that he knew nothing about the the pornography that was found on his office Computer ?

But he has now been sacked ( sorry, my mistake, ordered to resign ) not by what the Police have said, but as a result of a report by the Cabinet Office.

The report said that "he made relating statements as to what he knew about the claims, that were "inaccurate and misleading" and constituted a breach of the ministerial code"

He cannot hide behind rubbishing the Police any longer.
Mikey, That doesn't answer my question. Why are your principles elastic - or don't you actually have any principles?
May has now lost 3 Ministers in the last few weeks....how many more can she lose, before she admits that she is just not up to the job ?
Mikey
//not up to the job// Suggest you have a look at this:-

Mikey, And that doesn't answer my question either. To call your response to this disingenuous would be an understated kindness.
Naomi
// the police using underhand methods to achieve an aim //

The raid on Green’s office was carried out under the advice available at the time. No one seemed to know what the correct procedure was, especially the Serjeant at Arms, who let the police in, though she seemingly didn’t know that she was not obliged to.

Green faced no action about the leaks even though there was ample evidence that the Civil Servant (now a prospective Conservative MP) and Green were leaking.

The porn allegations were in the Select Committe evidence on the leak inquiry, where they lain for several years. It was only when a Conservative activist said Green had acted inappropriately to her, that the porn allegation resurfaced, and Green attacked the Police involved in the raid. That prompted the forensic investigator to support his fellow officer by (probably illegally) publishing a page from his notebook.

If the allegation is that the Police’s aim was to bring down Green, then I don’t think that holds up. Green’s downfall was of his own doing.
Has Mikey left the building?
This is quite blatantly political manoeuvering to remove key allies to May. Whether or not Green is "innocent" is irrelevant. This is clearly dirt someone has stored up for an opportune moment. 3 major cabinet ministers in 2 months is not a coincidence.
If he did nothing wrong, why was he asked to resign and why did he agree to offer his resignation?

Gromit, a police officer published historical information that should not have been in his possession. Just days ago Mikey was jumping up and down about underhand police tactics and yet now when it suits him not to …..

You get my drift, I’m sure.
Naomi, I don't think that we have heard the last of that officer. He is being investigated by the Met, and rightly so.He should not have had his old notebook, which should have been handed in when he left the force.

The Conservative Party have been at civil war for decades. Major called them ‘***’ . They managed to get IDS into the role of leader only to see him dumped as he was useless. Cameron fought them, and trying to placate them is what led to his downfall. Now we have a very weak Prime Mininister, and vunerable Party leader, the bag of mad ferrets that are the Conservative Party are indeed tearing at each others’ throats, and the falling of several ministers is evidence of that.
Green lied, he had to go.

Am wondering if his constituents will be wanting to kick him out?
Who would want a liar to represent them?
danny, indeed.

alba, the liar Corbyn represents rather more people who seem to be quite happy with that.
No, not left the building...merely having a shave, before leaving for my car service.

I don't have any problem with Police Officers, serving or retired producing evidence.

But I can see what people are up to here....desperately trying to divert attention away from the real situation !

Green has been sacked, because he made made "inaccurate and misleading" statements.

Read what Gromit has said above....this is all of Greens doing, not the Police....he lied, just like Fallon before him.
