On a recent thread, I pasted in a quote by him stating how within Europe there are places which for non-Muslims are "No go areas" (It was only one among a collection of quotes) I actually apart from vaguely having heard the name, knew nothing at all about the man, but have now rectified that;
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morrissey Quite an impressive career, and I find a fellow Mancunian.
Without any evidence to the contrary, his assertion has been dismissed on that thread by more than one person, seemingly because he is who he is !?
To support what he said, may I ask if any woman, wearing normal western clothing with uncovered hair (let alone wearing any form of make-up) would be happy to walk through the suburb of say, Paris-Seine-Saint Denis in the daytime, let alone at night, and could an orthodox Jewish man wearing his required kippah - the small skull cap worn by Jews to fulfil the requirements that the head be covered, and is worn by men in Orthodox communities- enter certain areas of some European cities, Berlin and Cologne for example, and was the statement wrong?

Khandro, I've looked and still can't see it. If it exists why not just re-post it here instead of messing around?
Eerr.......I only quoted Angele Murkhell.
Interesting thread (chortle chortle). I think I said (BTW everyone I think I'm one of the people Khandro refers to in is OP) that there have always been Ghettos in large cities. Saying their a new thing attributable to immigration is, as i think i put, fake news.

Anyway, Khandro, at least you now know who Morrissey is!
they're (not their) tut.
SP, //Some of us are the children of immigrants and don’t want to associate ourselves with those who make seeping generalisations about immigrants.//

That unsafe areas exist is not a sweeping statement about immigrants. Furthermore those areas could affect you and yours as much as anyone else.
Your source was ' The Gatestone institute' Togo, famous for misquotes, out of context quotes, and all the other expected far right wing shenaningans to try to fit their agenda. Do you have that quote from elsewhere please, as they simply are not credible?
Will the Guardian do? :)) Haha.
The German chancellor, Angela Merkel, has courted growing anti-immigrant opinion in Germany by claiming the country's attempts to create a multicultural society have "utterly failed".
Speaking to a meeting of young members of her Christian Democratic Union party, Merkel said the idea of people from different cultural backgrounds living happily "side by side" did not work.
She said the onus was on immigrants to do more to integrate into German society.
"This [multicultural] approach has failed, utterly failed," Merkel told the meeting in Potsdam, west of Berlin, yesterday.

Shall we all agree to leave Morrissey out of this now. The debate has moved on from what he may or may not have said. I think (after checking online myself) that Khandro may have misquoted.

It’s no big deal - can happen to any of us.
Perhaps the mistake was yours sp..... Never mind. :))

//Morrissey has made an unexpected and to some of his fans a thoroughly unwelcome contribution to Britain's loaded immigration debate. The musician has delivered a swingeing attack on what he perceives to be Britain's encroaching multiculturalism and the loss of national identity.
"England is a memory now," he says, in an interview with the NME published yesterday. "The gates are flooded and anybody can have access to England and join in."
He goes on: "Although I don't have anything against people from other countries, the higher the influx into England the more the British identity disappears. So the price is enormous. Travel to England and you have no idea where you are. It matters because the British identity is very attractive. I grew up into it and I find it very quaint and amusing. Other countries have held on to their basic identity, yet it seems to me that England was thrown away.//

Morrissey is playing Glasgow in February this year - wonder how many muslims will be in the audience?
Togo

Nope.

He didn’t talk about no go areas.

Let’s just drop it. It’s not useful to the debate.
'It’s not useful to the debate.'

It's the very crux of the debate. Re read the title.

On further research, I'm afraid the irony is that Morrissey didn't say it all, it got conflated in an attack on him by a poster on that thread.
Apologies to Morrissey, but as I have said earlier, it never was about him anyway, the subject is no go zones and the question should arise, for whom? not for Muslims, who can go anywhere in Europe, but women and Jews, for example, cant.
Not a faulty search tool then?
'Morrissey is playing Glasgow in February this year - wonder how many muslims will be in the audience?'

Music be haram, maggie. Another thing we'll all have to learn to live without come the day.
// Because a person quoted as having said this is disliked by some people on AB //

Khandro,
Morrissey never said it. I posted his tweet in full earlier.

Zacs; //Not a faulty search tool then?//
Oh emphatically yes. On that thread I posted four quotes of assertions, none of them did you address; instead you attacked one of the quotes and dismissed it, not for what it said, but purely on the grounds that it was made by Morrissey, and even further you then entered the subject of no-go zones from somewhere else and dismissed that too, avoiding discussing the subjects before you. If that isn't playing the 'faulty research' card, what is?
