Looking at the headlines on todays newspapers, it would be easy to surmise that the Prime Minister doesn’t have much of a future

i don't think they are bad, and i do think she will stay in power.
Good question. She's not the best PM we've had, but neither is she the worst!
regardless of what you think that is, the Labour crowd wouldn't be of any use, not now, i shudder to think of them taking over the reins..
I doubt that she will go before the next election. It would cause too much disruption within the Conservative Party.
Danny, surely they wouldn't go into an election with her at the helm after last time.

She's hardly John Major on his soap box.
Hopkirk, that is not what I said,I said she would remain until the next election, at which time the Conservatives will decide who should lead them.
When were they ever not bad Gromit ?

Yesterday was like a Whitehall farce. She seems to have no ability to hire and fire whatsoever. Just a day or so after lionising Toby Young, he has now resigned, in disgrace.

May should have thrown Greening out of Number Ten, bodily if necessary, instead of trying to reason with. In the end, of course La Greening was, in effect, sacked.

Bambi Hunt also seemed to have the better of May.

Just who is in charge these days ?

Emmie,
I am not anticipating a change of Government. The Cnservatives have another 4 years at least, Corbyn will be too old then.

But May cannot do the job. Problem is, her successor will have the same problems and from the current front runners, half the brains of May.

It does not bode well for the country.
She's doing a reasonable job considering what she's got to work with.
i agree with wbm she is fire fighting, but let's see what happens now with the reshuffle, she has brought in some new blood so time will tell.
her ministers need to give her more support and stop behaving like it's the 5th year common room....
Can't argue with that minty. They should be acting their age, not their shoe size!

// her ministers need to give her more support and stop behaving like it's the 5th year common room //

Prime Ministers are supposed to have ‘authority’.
It is a requirement of the job. She hasn’t got any.
she needs to be more like Mrs T and cut the smiley diplomatic approach..more steely
Being called to appear before May must be like being assaulted by a blancmange.
Pathetic. She has no authority. Which is actually one big incentive for them not to get rid of her - zero authority from Downing St. means the ministers can effectively do as they please. If you assume that all politicians are always trying to maximise their own power and influence to the greatest extent possible, this situation is a win for everybody except May (and indeed the country).

May on her own terms is not as bad a PM as Cameron. But her government is the worst-managed one since at least the early 90s, if not earlier.
It was interesting that she tried to move Hunt sideways, presumably because she thought he wasn't doing much of a job at Health.

But instead, he kept health and she ended up gaving him even more opportunity to cock things up, by adding Social Care to his portfolio.

You couldn't make it up !

10c....if you remember, no one was striving after Major job, in the run up to the 1997 Election either...perhaps its for the same reason ?

The Times, Telegraph, Guardian and Independent lead with the reshuffle, calling it a shambles.

Even the Daily Mail must think it was bad, their report on the reshuffle is buried way to the bottom of the page coming in at 17th story from the top.
