That's a very pious and self righteous attitude Andy, some people enjoy recreational sex, it's not for you to decide that they have no sense of self respect. That is really hateful victim blaming. there is a difference between consenting sexual activity and an attack however long people have known each other.

/// Aog, as you know, a lack of conviction neither "proves" innocence or that an accuser is lying. You ask the same question over and over again, but don't seem to take anything in. ///
Oh but I do, I take in the fact that if it was left to the likes of you every man would be guilty, end of.

I am sorry if you find my approach pious self-righteous - obviously we will have to agree to disagree on the motive for my viewpoint.

I am not 'blaming' anyone, and I regard both these people as the victims in this situation.
I am not suggesting for a minute that if an attack took place, that the perpetrator should not be punished to the full extent of the law.
The facts appear to be that these two people were not previously acquainted, and the intoxication of at least one of them means that she is unable to remember what happened, and as a result, if she was assaulted, the defence have been able to instil reasonable doubt in the minds of the jury about the veracity of her version of events.
The situation would not occur if young men did not think it acceptable to have sex with drunken strangers, and if young women did not drink so much that they put themselves at risk.
Now to be clear - I do not for one moment think that because this woman was drunk, that she 'asked for it', or that an assault on her is remotely acceptable and excusable.
The point I am making - and I accept I perhaps did not explain it correctly - is that if young men were educated that the apparent 'availability' of a stranger does not make random sex a good idea, and if youg women were educated that excess alcohol leads to poor decision making which can lead to situations like this.
The rule is simple - if you are with someone who is drunk, stop for a minute and consider if they would do the same thing if they were sober. If you met that evening, you can't answer that question, so maybe instant sex is not a good idea.
Of course people like casual sex - that is the choice of an adult - but with choices come responsibilities, and that is where the education of children comes in to my point.

It rather depends on what the aim of naming the women hopes to achieve.
Is it to as you state 'shame' which may of course include problems for the wider family and possible criminal acts of revenge.
Or is it to discourage women reporting for rear of the above.
Far better to have anonymity for both parties until such time as it is deemed legally necessary.
