Are men becoming worse, or is it being reported more now?

From Hollywood, to the fashion industry, to sports, to Westminster, to television - in the past couple of years on an almost daily basis, we have been seen stories of men abusing their position - grooming, assaulting, raping, molesting and so on.

Is it because women are more likely to come forward (even those there are some who want them to be 'named and shamed' should their claim of assault/rape not be upheld), or something more insidious about men in the 21st century?

/// I don't think 21st Century men are any different from their forebears, ///

In fact they are much better behaved in fact.

Gosh ! GOS is a bit pious this time round

when they were rebuilding the cardiac block ( eighties ) - the one that fell down before it was built. The water towers at the top crushed the supporting pillars and the whole thing had to be torn down and rebuilt, generating juicy breach of contract fees for the lawyers)

well..... the mgt at GOSH was getting shopping bags stuffed wiv cash - putting it in their cash account and saying thank you very much see you next week
Danny, thanks for the link. I can only say they knew the score when they took the job.
I am not sure if who broke the story is relevant to the wave - surge, - flood! even, of outrage parliamentary and on the street

and some of the girls HAVE spoken havent they ?

[ hey no one has said - 200 knicker what did vey expect? = I imagine essex chavs, animals at the best of times predominate3d at the dinner ]
Yes...the girls did speak. To the reporter! Had she not been there we'd be none the wiser, and this event would carry on, year after year...
ummmm
/// from what I've seen, these were waitresses ///

No they weren't, they were hostesses, much more highly paid.
... and the girls wouldn't be complaining. Hmmmm.....
^That was to ummmm.
AOG, on the video clips the girls are seen waiting on tables.Ergo waitresses
they were referred to hostesses on the news piece.
Emmie, in the headline they are referred to as waitresses.A waitress by any other name is still a waitress.(apologies to Shakespeare)
I wonder if the winning women who appear on the TV show 'Tipping Point' have to sign an agreement to be hugged and kissed by the shows host Ben Shephard, or can he expect some accusations from these women in about 20 years time?
He is certainly a bit touchy feely.
Waitresses, hostesses, whatever...the whole thing sounds grim. Anything that's a 'men only' affair usually is.
It's being reported more because the level of tolerance to it has dropped. Many historical cases have emerged like Jimmy Saville which at the time the police refused to hear anything of. The thing to keep an eye on is not turning into a witch hunt. If we are not careful the human race will die out ;)

Good grief.
AOG, the burka has nothing to do with this thread.Your bias against Muslims is showing again.
For the record, I rather agree with Mrs May, in that what went on at The Dorchester was way over the top and is inappropriate in this day and age. This is the 21st century, not the 1970s.

If all those Companies want to give money to deserving causes that help children, I am sure they can donate with more dignity than they showed at the event.
In the usual manner of the politically correct, this story has been blown out of all proportion. The event, which raised £2million for charity, has been happening for years, the girls working there knew the score, and the Financial Times and its undercover reporter should be ashamed of themselves.
