This killing and attack on Muslims has been classed as a terrorist attack, is this to somehow equalise it with the real world wide terrorist attacks carried out in the name of Islam, so as to appease the Muslims in this country?

Hate and revenge killing but as for terrorist killing ... that is never clear.
I often think something should be regarded as terrorism but apparently it is not.
Perhaps it is because it has been proven that he delibrately set out to kill this particular section of residents that make it a terrorist attack.
Whose or what ideology was he a adherent of, Islay?

There have been similar killings carried out by a lone mad man, but the police have announced that they are not classing it as a terrorist attack.
A terrorist is by definition a member of a terrorist organisation and this guy clearly wasn't, so it was clearly a Hate or revenge Killing by an individual nutter.
I hardly think that labelling this tragedy as a 'terrorist attack' is going to 'appease' anyone.

I think you have some strange ideas about how Muslims think AOG.
Many of the Moslems involved in such attacks not members of terrorist groups either : nor are the authors of many other so-called terrorist attacks so I’m not sure you can go by membership of some grouping
As I see it, a terrorist attack is, by definition, designed to promote terror, and is usually planned by an organisation which will then admit responsibility.

This appears to have been the lone action of a deranged racist - I doubt he was bright enough to have considered an agenda for the consequences of what he did.

Until the authorities are prepared to admit that mistakes were made when vast numbers of an alien culture was allowed into the country, there is always going to be mad persons such as this killer venting they anger towards those who are committing acts of terrorism.

Muslims could not get on with other religions in their own sub continent, that is why they were given a country of their own, even then they were further separated by the creation of Bangladesh.
AOG - // Until the authorities are prepared to admit that mistakes were made when vast numbers of an alien culture was allowed into the country, there is always going to be mad persons such as this killer venting they anger towards those who are committing acts of terrorism. //

Firstly, I don't think that the government admitting mistakes regarding an 'alien culture' as you so delightfully refer to it, is going to change the attitudes of people like this individual.

Secondly, this man did not 'vent his anger' towards those who are committing acts of terrorism, he picked on a group of worshippers at a Mosque - unless of course you believe that being a Muslim makes you a terrorist by default, and therefore fair game for a revenge attack.

I seem to remember Irish Catholics and Protestants having similar antipathy towards each other, and backing up their attitude with terrorist attacks - or does that not count because they are native terrorists?

Anyone as got to be both blind and deaf not to know how Muslims think.

There was even one on the radio this morning complaining that this 'Terrorist' attack had not been given the media coverage which is given to Muslim terrorist attacks, even though it had been in the headlines of every popular national news paper plus radio and TV news.
AH: "unless of course you believe that being a Muslim makes you a terrorist by default, and therefore fair game for a revenge attack. " - that is an increasingly common view Andy.
AOG - // Anyone as got to be both blind and deaf not to know how Muslims think. //

I freely admit that I actually know one Muslim to speak to - but I am willing to bet that it's one more than you know AOG - please feel free to contradict me.

If you know 'how Muslims think' - there is a job for you in race relations.

Oh no, hang on, you don't know 'how Muslims think' at all - you just think your prejudices make it so.
TTT - // AH: "unless of course you believe that being a Muslim makes you a terrorist by default, and therefore fair game for a revenge attack. " - that is an increasingly common view Andy. //

Is it? I hope not.

On the basis that Islamic countries are the ones invaded by Allied Forces, I would hate to think that any terrorist thinks that I am an Imperialist invading warmonger on the basis that I am white and British.

After all, if we are all lumping people in together on the basis of their origins, there's no reason why we should not expect ISIS to do the same - is there?
//Anyone as got to be both blind and deaf not to know how Muslims think. //
I wonder how the hell I managed to drive this morning then!!
Islay - I had to get someone else to sign your reply, and type this for me - I am advised that I too am blind and deaf!

/// This appears to have been the lone action of a deranged racist ///

It has been mentioned many, many times on here that Muslims are not a race, so perhaps the best description should have been a deranged Islamophobic.

Isn't that more accurate, 'Racist' is such an overused and often an inaccurate description?

AOG - // ... Isn't that more accurate ... //

It is indeed.
AOG- "Islamophobe" does not apply in this case, surely, as this implies the person had a fear of Islam?
I know one Muslim who moved from an area of Sheffield to an area of Huddersfield. The reason ... because the area of Sheffield he lived in was too Muslim for his liking.
