The president says ( perhaps ) that the memo is obviously partisan and so should not have been used and the DOJ ( washington not london ) and FBI says that the bias was so obvious that they pleaded the fact in court

Does it achieve anything ?

Slightly wet firework would be my view. Looks like the FBI has already stolen their thunder.
This whole FBI bias thing is surreal. Trump sacked Comey allegedly because he shafted Hillary (so to speak) before rapidly changing his tune.

One question. Why would Trump sanction its release if it were anything which would harm him? It’s the sort of thing which would have toppled a presidency years ago (a la Nixon) but now, apparently, there’s little Republican resistance.

trump may believe that if you show that Steele is a damned liar then everything he swears to is then untrue - but that is not really how it works

1821 ( said this before but worth a recycle ) Lord Eldon observed that if a man swore he was in Rome and you show he wasnt - you havent proven your case - all you have shown is that he wasnt in Rome when he said he was.
