It was said by dave, that "we are all in this together", and it seems that he was right after all, if Tory controlled Councils are suffering. Almost all of the huge shortfalls in money is coming from social issues, like the care budgets and children's services.

So, vote Tory and see a huge hike in your Council Tax ?

We have 60 Councillors with their snout in the trough, they pay themselves gawd knows what in exes, they have a cabinet and they get a salary. No wonder council tax is going through the roof. Local authority is not needed at all, they should abolish the lot of them and replace with a management team to get the bins emptied. Doesn't matter if they are Tory or Labour all the same, local democracy is an illusion.
Hear hear TTT.
Watch this shower of Cons reduce the C/T just before the next G/E,
Typical Tory Trick . They just cant help it.
This is just the start of the rise in living costs, and Brexit ain't even started yet.
Brexit will just be another excuse for traders to push prices through roof and blame it all on Brexit.
And watch it go off the scale if Labour ever get their sticky mitts on the strings...
I wouldn't trust local councils to spend our money wisely for one minute. I bet anyone with any common sense could go through the books of any local authority and find many ways to make cuts that would not harm anyone.
Gullible, you are aware it is the council that sets the rate and it is labour councils raising it too?
I agree with TTT .It's neither here nor there which party runs the local councils and county councils.A few years ago our county council spent 30 million quid on an incinerator that was never built .They waste money hand over fist on vanity projects while essential services are cut to the bone and recently the cheeky b's had the nerve to award themselves an 11% pay increase. The system needs a radical overhaul.
I don't know what it is like now but corruption used to be rife in local government. Do you remember the Poulson affair of the early 70s? Both he and the leader of Newcastle city council went to prison.
Mikey, how about charging teachers for parking in the school grounds? That'd bring a good few bob in, eh.

//Mr Williamson, shadow minister for Fire and Emergency Services, wants Labour councils to add a sliding rate of council tax to Band D properties and above, starting at 20 per cent but rising to 100 per cent for those in Band H properties//
