"The move was spearheaded by the leader of the Freedom Party, Austria's Vice Chancellor Heinz-Christian Strache, himself a smoker, who told parliament last month that it was about freedom of choice." - so roughly translated it's freedom of choice to inflict a disgusting smelly habit on others! What about our rights to not have to inhale their disgusting emissions?

Were you thinking of going to Austria any time soon then?
Idiot. Him not you.
You don't have to. It doesn't take a genius to devise smoking and non-smoking areas. That sort of attitude I would expect from Corbyn, McDonnell or Abbott, not a libertarian like yourself.
This of course is just the sort of thing we might have had to put up with had Farage and co ever got anywhere near government.
We may disagree on Brexit, but I am 100% with you on this nonsense.

nice ludders!
Unfortunately TTT many (but not all) smokers have no logic for their habit. Mixed with a good dose of self righteousness they think they should be able to inflict whatever on the majority population.

Now most smokers who will give up have done so I can't see this changing in the foreseeable future.

Oh dear it looks like the 'subject' police are on to you ttt. It's obviously frowned upon to bring up the same topic more than once.
I suspect the argument will be coke is illegal, baccy aint.

But I get your point.

// He said restaurants should be free to decide if they want to have smoking sections, where "a citizen has the possibility to decide perhaps to enjoy a cigarette or a pipe or a cigar with their coffee".//

This was the argument over here before the ban, the logic being that customers would vote with their feet if they wanted to go to a place that allowed smoking or not. The counter argument was that staff didn't have the freedom of choice, and they needed to be protected too. Hence the blanket ban.

YMB: "Now most smokers who will give up have done so I can't see this changing in the foreseeable future. " - that's true but the battle now is to stop the young from starting. It always amazes me how many school girls I still see puffing away, I wonder if they know how bad they smell.
