//advocating non-violence to Islamic terrorists is simply laughable//

It isn't laughable when you consider that there are such things as ex-terrorists (most prominently of course Maajid Nawaz). It's also not laughable when you consider that there exist non-violent Muslims who are in the process of being radicalised or have a high risk of becoming violent. Any individual who can be swayed from that (as Nawaz was) is a net win, and fellow muslims have a much higher chance of achieving that.

As for "muslim boots on the ground"... well, to put it bluntly, what do you know? Obviously the army has judged that it wants to target muslims for recruitment. Who are you to say there isn't an advantage to having muslim troops on our side while operating in majority-muslim countries?
Krom, //to put it bluntly, what do you know? //

I'd hazard a guess that I know at least as much, and probably more about Islam, than you do.

/// Why couldn't the ad be put up live, and just left without a news report? ///

Are you saying that certain controversial adverts or TV shows etc, should not be questioned by the press?
// Oh gawd!// foo! yeah dat!

I can see the intellects of AB are functioning normally today.

erm - are we saying the British Army has never recruited anyone besides Christians ? - er I dont think so
( think Gurkha ) - and the British Army in India was full of 'others'
so there is no difference - except in perception
// are we saying the British Army has never recruited anyone besides Christians ?//

I missed that post.

Funny comparison - here Gurkha with long voluntary tradition of serving in the British armed forces, there Muslim on his five a day living in the House of War.

Wonder if he's heard about the killings at Fort Hood:

Just another normal day on PP.
The 'This is Belonging' campaign is a good one overall I feel, it emphasises camaraderie.
let us hope so, what they don't want is trained Muslims who turn rogue.
//Just another normal day on PP. //

Yes.
"We are all in this Together," David Cameron coined that phrase,
Typical Tory Trick! .
If it is PC driven, then it is pretty pathetic. If it is part of a drive to sell the Army to minorities who might think they wouldn't fit in, then I would wait to see if it is successful or not before judging it.
Sneaky blighters, Gulliver. ;o)
No no, Garaman, you need to pass judgment right now. If you haven't got any evidence, use prejudice.
I thought that was the right thing to do. It shows the Army to have no bias against all serving men and hopefully encourages men and women of all faiths to Enlist. I found the respect shown to the soldier while he was praying quite moving.
Does anyone know who is in charge of Army recruitment procedures nowadays?
//More than 100,000 people signed up to the British Army in the 12 months up to March 2017, but only 7,500 became soldiers.//
CAPITA!
Just one of many Capita reviews available online if you can be bovvered.

//Having worked here for over 18months I have just handed my notice in. Management, most of them, are really terrible. No sympathy, no interest in staff who've been on long term sick, ever heard of the saying 'kept in the dark and fed on poo? Overworked and underpaid. Stress levels are not worth it. AVOID CAPITA//
