Pensioners Bus Passes Scotland

I have just read that the SNP are thinking of reviewing bus passes for scottish pensioners,my opinion would be this is an area that should be left alone, otherwise the next election total wipeout for SNP

If the cut-off date is 1950 then those born then must be at least 68, which should qualify them for the full monty.

I use my pass all over the country, particularly Park& Ride sites. Only England, though.

jno - sorry, just realised I only half answered. You can use it on local buses all over the country ie, not on long-distance coaches.

The advantage of the Freedom Pass is that (a) you can use it all over the country and (b) in London you can use it at any time of day (at least on the buses, not sure about Tube). I can also use my own bus pass (issued by the county where I live) in London at peak times.

You can use a Freedom Pass any time on the tube, including the all-night ones, plus trams. It gives you a heavy discount on the cable car and on river cruises. You can use it on mainline trains too, so if I want to go to Birmingham I only have to buy a ticket starting from the boundaries of London. I suppose the bus arrangements are reciprocal between London and the various counties.

I use it a lot; without it I think I'd travel good deal less.
