It seems more likely that the Judge has agreed that he can go on holiday with his family during the period *before* sentencing. Sentencing has not been delayed or deferred, it is natural for a hiatus whilst reports are being prepared......

The details of his offence are scant but if imprisonment is appropriate then hopefully that's what will happen.

She's ordered an 'all options' report and won't sentence until that has been delivered to her.
She would do that whatever his proposed travel plans......all she seems to have done is give him unconditional rather than conditional bail...

We know the report is incorrect because it describes this man as a paedophile when he isn't. That's a DM favourite to get the blood boiling.

As has already been stated by jackthehat, a deferral of sentencing is the norm when psychiatric reports have to be obtained - the report clearly states that this is required in this instance. As a prison sentence is not guaranteed for this offence then it is normal that he be released before sentencing.

I’ve always said that some judges are extremely harsh on robbers evt.. but strangely lenient with paedophiles and you really have to wonder why this is or not as I think it’s pretty obvious that maybe the judges and convict may possibly share certain interests.

I wonder how rested. the judge would sleep at night if this person then went on to abuse another child.

Probably great and interrupted as some judges seem to live in a parallel universe to the rest of us.

It says only that the girl was under 16, not that she was below puberty, so we’d have to take the Mail’s word that she was the latter, and I don’t.

I really don't get the judges logic here, firstly why on earth would his family want him near them and secondly surely there is a risk of skipping bail as it is a serious offence?

In addition it sends all the wrong signals on how the Courts view this sort of crime.

The Judge wants the result of a couple of reports, and what they conclude will help determine what sentence she lays down. The reports will take some time to prepare, so that is the reason for the delay, not so he can go on holiday.
